2024/25 Sean Dyche

Im on record as saying that you have to look at in the summer anyway given his and the squad contract situation - its what any well run organisation would do - its a bad organization that doesn't do it - im also not closed minded to him being the best candidate either, the change of ownership situation changes it again and adds another variable. If i was the TFG i wouldn't change my breakfast cereal for 6 months on the footballing side.

Whatever happens in the future - hes done a phenomenal job here, if he goes he will have my absolute respect, admiration and gratitude.

We finished above City and Spurs most seasons if my memory is right, a few above Norway as well, think Spurs had a few good years under Redknapp.

Jep, but once City started investing with the Saudis that was around 2010, we couldn't keep up anymore. They were a mid-table team with Pearce and Keagan and played 2nd div early 2000s.

Arsenal is also an example they spent little comparing to United or Chelsea, but consistently got top under Wenger in that time with the double as highlight.

Yeah the league had an entirely different dynamic about it back then though. It was far more of a top 4 than a top 6 and there was far less money floating around in general back then. Not taking anything away from Moyes we certainly punched above our weight category but it was a different league to now and that needs to be remembered.

We had the money and chance to be in that group consistently when Moshiri came in, but he did everything wrong possible.

Only difference is another three teams entered the fray - City got their takeover, Spurs kept their Harry Kane built a club of the back of it, when we sold Rooney and Norway were blessed to get Klopp - they were fluting about signing Charlie Adam and appointing Roy Hodgson, before him.

There was a vacuum for a bit after Moyes left, Leicester won the title a couple of years after Moyes left.

Took City a while to strike gold even after the take over mate - remember Mark Hughes.

Arsenal were brilliant, Wenger was a genius, but they also went through a period were they couldn't invest or compete and had to sell their best players when they were building the Emirates, remember RVP and Sanchez heading to Utd.

The minute he kept Kenwright on it was never going work. Bill was all about us still be that traditional little club despite it being obvious that PL clubs needed to be run as a business. Add in the first round of appointments, Steve Walsh (Never done the DoF role before) Ronald Koeman (Never wanted to leave Southampton) then Kenwright and Moshiri, all 4 of them buying players independently showing a complete lack of any plan, it was always going to be a disaster imo.

It was my favorite prem time, I had not really the connection to Everton back then tbf.

Chelsea with Mourinho, Benitez with Liverpool, Wenger with Arsenal and SAF with United.

4 hugely different yet great managers back then with fantastic teams.

In an ideal world that is how id like us too play. Direct, quick, one/two touches, lot's of through balls on the deck overpowering the opposition.

I really enjoyed the years Utd and Arsenal went at it hammer and tongs mate - they both had absolutely brilliant teams some of the players were just a joy and they really hated each other.

The fact we could bloody each of their noses as well was enjoyable.

Hard to imagine now but we ended that great invincible Arsenal teams, invincible record.

So would Sean Dyche.

Honestly, that's how i think he wants to play solid, break on the transition, quick on the counter, if you notice this season we are going far more through the central channel, with direct ball at feet - DCL doesnt know what to be doing.

If that's the case then he needs to stop Pickford and a few of the others from hoofing it up the pitch all the time, maybe it explains the Pope links (I don't believe them btw)

I think there was a brief spell under Dyche where we played decent football last season. From October-December, also the Bournemouth game showed what Dyche "ideally" could do.

But there are many points against him to develop us to that side permanently to see that brand of football in majority and then also to gain points with it.
