2024/25 Sean Dyche

Dave counted my posts to defend you, I spent about 15 seconds counting yours to show you blew me out of the water. You're continuing to smash that number too.

You are having some sort of crisis over one of the most average managers in the history of football. Isn't even as good as Sam Allardyce was.

Because you weirdly out of nowhere in the middle of the day took issue with how many posts I’ve made on an internet forum.

Again the question is simply what has it got to do with you? A crisis, you’re waking up and proactively commenting on me for no reason whatsoever. Only one person having a crisis here.

I woke up, I posted about no one in particular, you jumped onto it for some reason.

Please try and stay on topic. I am discussing Dyche this morning :)

I see he got 54 points twice with Burnley in the premier league, how many points did we get when Moyes got us into the Champions league, well the qualifying stage? Wasn’t much more than that was it?
But Moyes then took that team, improved it year on year and turned us into a regular top 6 club. He turned a relegation team into a top 6 team and always looked to improve. But he hit his limit

Dyche never tried that at Burnley; he implemented the same strategy with the same type of player for 12 years. He had no intention of development, he played the fine margins game every year of his tenure; it worked in his favour twice, one being a covid season. The other 10 it didn’t

I’m not an ITK and don’t claim to be, but here’s what I’m hearing about Dyche from someone with access to the club :

First three weeks of pre season, the team did no tactical training whatsoever, just fitness.

The players weren’t happy with the pre season friendlies, with them being pointless, due to the level of the opposition.

Some of the players have asked to play more expansive footy, he’s refused and they’ve fallen out with him.

DCL won’t sign a new contract whilst he’s manager.

All of that isn't surprising though I'd say DCL should really have a bit more appreciation for Dyche as he's been well looked after and defended time after time.

I don't think many managers would play a striker 17 games on the spin without scoring and continue to defend him.

Some of the comments from Dyche about sending the players out without anything but the very basic tactical details (he mentions this after Coventry battered us) was alarming to the point of negligence and not acceptable.

Not sure who the players are who he's fallen out with as most of them can barely trap a ball, let alone be more expensive lol🤣

I know who has told you all of the above though, so know it'll be genuine information you've received.

Southall really hit the nail on the head this week. He said Dyche has been given the crappy end of the stick (as in a lot to deal with during his tenure) but he needs to take a lot more care with how he speaks to Evertonians. I think he's already passed that point myself like, I think there's been too many alarm bells ringing since pre season with how little work he's done tactically with the players which not only shown in pre season, but has carried over into this season.

Wins change perceptions but as things stand, I wouldn't be confident of him getting any more than 5 wins throughout the season with the way he's currently setting us up and how unreactive he is to situations unfolding.

Its in his interests to adapt as a manager if he wants a long career in management.
You can sense the draw he has to negativity and order.
I think it makes him deeply uncomfortable the thought of free flowing football with a bit of flair, where players who would try and dribble to take a man on, do something a little bit different.
Its like he knows it needs to be part of the game but it makes him anxious. Hes very OCD with the structure and base tactics he implements.
Last season he took way too long to make substitutions when we needed something, and yet when it comes to taking these said 'fair players' off lately, hes happy to pull the trigger with half hour of the game remaining.
He came alive last season when it needed to get ugly (his words), thats his happy place

I'm sure he admitted about starting to work on tactics the same week as last preseason game so that makes sense. I also imagine players understandably absolutely hate pointless physical activity such as "gaffers day" so are prob starting to question his dinosaur style philosophy.

Pretty much confirms what we all thought anyway, his football has no place in 2024, for me, it's ripping the fans off making them sit through games that he's actively trying not to win in. Fingers crossed Friedkin gets rid.

I asked how many points Everton got the year we got into the qualifying round of the European Cup not what Moyes did, Inknow enough about the 11 years he was here winning nothing but earning brewsters, so how many points did we get that year if you know?

I doubt the Friedkin group will be bothered about things like that mate. They will simply note that the majority of his career has been spent fighting relegation, being relegated and he has never won anything apart from a promotion in the championship which came after being relegated the previous season and finishing 16th after the promotion. Hardly the man that they would ever appoint if they want to bring a once top club back towards the top once again.

He will be first on the chopping block no matter what he does from now till then.
Despite that how many points did Moyes gain that year for Everton?

I think in Moyes' case also the financial limit of the club started to be noticeable. We invested enough to be among European spots, but had no chance to keep up with Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United, City, Spurs etc.

We finished above City and Spurs most seasons if my memory is right, a few above Norway as well, think Spurs had a few good years under Redknapp.
