I've been buying hard to find (in Australia) english car parts, some small and lightweight and the postage was like another 80% of the already horrendous GBP price.
I've messaged sellers and they say 'soz mate but I'm stuck with ebay postage and much as I would like to ( 🤔 ) he claims that he can't put 3 in one package and send it royal mail.
How much of this is true I'm not sure, but it's a bit of a barsteward.

Once ebay get you in they moneytise the shiz out of you the seller...and thus me the buyer
Not a fan unless I really really have to
Probably worth a mention here Degsy what parts you are needing. Myself and quite a few other blokes on here are involved as a hobby or otherwise in this type of thing.

I am in a similar position having used Ebay a lot a few years ago, I stopped using them because of the fees I dont know if its changed now as I want to try them again.
As for sending parcels with Evri though Ebay would make things easier my question would be when listing an item do you not have to show delivery costs ?
Good point that mate. I think what I'm going to do in future is list as postage free, it's the end fee that counts at the end of the day. I'll just budget a few quid for postage. May attract more buyers too 👌

I`m a regular buyer of car parts off ebay too mate.

If it`s a company they quite often won`t package multiple items into one package. I think it`s to do with the way the stores package them and track them.

If it`s a private seller, I can`t see the problem though ?
I didnt use that seller in the end but you have to do a lot of internet research to get what you want...at a price you can live with

My big priority is a 1981 Rover V8 radiator... no leaks obvs, ive already got one of them...could be off similar V8 landrover or range rover too.
Got quoted au$ 1200 to repair locally - gtf.

tbh, im toying with getting a similar sized one, but 70% cheaper from a land cruiser and 'Making' it kin fit, grinder hammer welder style and sod authenticity

Degsy, I have a TVR here and basically it's Rover based mechanically. I use a firm called Craddocks for all my parts. Very well priced and experts on the Marque. Have you been in touch with them at all mate? If not it may be worth a try and see if they export, I'm sure they will.

I've always used Royal Mail Tracked 48. Costs a little more than standard 2nd Class but is fully tracked - Scanned at acceptance, scanned as it moves through mail centres, scanned at the delivery office before delivery and scanned again at the point of delivery and offers better insurance cover than 'Signed For' - The only other service they offer that does this is the much more expensive Special Delivery.

They will also collect it from your home for free but obviously not a great option if you're out and don't have an accessible safe area to leave it for them.

I wouldn't touch 'Signed For' or standard postage regardless of whether it's 1st or 2nd Class. They can sit around going nowhere as Tracked and Specials are always prioritised in delivery offices regardless of what the official position is.

Never had an issue selling well over a thousand items via Ebay & Discogs.

My missus and lad use Vinted and they seem to quite regularly get clothes, that aren`t really as described - usually a bit more worn or the wrong size.

Ebay always sides with the buyer, so you get more protection with them.

Ebays biggest rip, is taking a fee from your postage costs, so you end up paying twice.
Trouble is back in the day people got wise to the fee not applying to postage costs so were listing £10 items as £0.01 with £9.99 postage.

You just have to accept it as a cost of doing business. It still provides decent value in terms of reach and not having the same costs as a brick and mortar store.

Ta mate, I'll get right on it.

I sell loads of gear on Ebay mate, as my missus is a clothes horse and my eldest lad loves his designer gear.

I always use Royal Mail ( PO is 5 mins walk away ) and the money goes into your bank the moment the buyer pays, not when the parcel arrives.

I`ve only ever had two things go missing in over ten years with the PO.

I`d say it`s what`s convenient for you, as I think they both provide a similar standard of service / how quickly you need the cash.
Income Tax alert :D - My wife sold over 5 grand an age ago & eBay threatened to report her to the inland revenue - just car boot collectables ..... even worse now, as it was slack then ..... be careful your takings do not affect your income in any way ....
