A singer. *yawn* Have about a zillion of those thrust upon us via X Factor and their ilk, all singing other peoples songs, not playing any kind of instrument. Where's the talent?

I thought she was pretty ordinary to be honest, Rob. To me it sounded like her voice was actually affected, like she was trying give it that country/folk edge, when in fact she's suited merely to ordinary pop music.

I'm certain she could record, though. But then so could probably 15% of the population.

Earlier songs she had that kind of approach, certainly not with her own/later stuff.
 
Is this just some randon american pop girl that you found and are now infatuated with?

If it is, fair do's. She's quite nice like.

She lost me when she did Abba on the guitar though.

Shes from London. Briefly spoke to her in 2006 when away (Portugal). She said she was a singer and later emailed with a link to youtube link posted in 2007. Since then I have kept an eye on her progress. Think she's fairly decent tbh. Will be interesting to see if she can make it.

As for being live act, she has already performed live so opinions can be formed in that respect. Universal recently signed her up.
 
She'll probably get a career (if she wants it) from singing (cruise ships, nightclubs, etc). As to "making it", I could see it if she gets the luck - there are certainly enough who sing at her standard who have been successful. But luck is a hard thing to rely on.
 
It depends on whether her record company packages her well. Let's face it, at least half the acts today are pretty average if truth be known. It's as much about "selling" to a specific market as it is the music.

She reminds me of about 20 different acts from the X-Factor. Reasonably good singers just waiting to be branded and flogged to the masses.

I'm cynical, I'm afraid. Give me character, someone that's lived a life and some strong lyrics, and I'm happy. other than that, it all sounds the same to me.
