I think you have to put it in simple terms.

I vaguely recall that homosexuality has been observed in species other than humans. There's a whole Wikipedia article on the subject.

If it's observed in the natural world, perhaps some individuals (and animals) are hard wired that way.

What I mean is (and I'm a heterosexual man), is that perhaps it's more 'natural' than we think.

We have two male dogs. They love (with a capital F) anything (dog or bitch) with a pulse. They have the most opportunuty with each other. They only need to make one puppy in a lifetime to keep the gene pool ticking over. The rest seems hard wired as free love.

Many people have commited suicide because they have been found to be gay - I don't think those people chose to be gay. It is most likely a combination of both nature and nurture, where your early life experiences will reinforce your natural predisposition.

i don't think it's a choice, i think it's just the way people are born.

You see young lads who are gay, at school and all that committing suicide and so on just because they don't want to live with being gay, i think that should prove to anyone that it isn't a choice.

Personally i think it's very sad that theres still so much homophobia and stuff going on these days, and i hope my generation and the people below my generation can eradicate it.

If they aren't harming anyone let people be just that, people. Happy people.

Also, homophobic jokes or idiotic statements like 'ADAM AND STEVE LAD' are just ridiculous, i'm sure we have one or two gay lads on here, everton rhys i think, so you know it's meant to be a sound forum for EVERYONE, he's a member so shouldn't be made to feel scared of coming on here or whatever.

Also for religion, i'm not religious but like someone else said, surely if god created all, he also created people being gay / gay people so i'm pretty sure he'd rather have people just be good people than care about them being with someone else.

I've seen people say it's in the bible that 'men must not lay with men' or something, but isn't that just a 'human' who wrote the bible and not god, so surely people who are religious should go with what god created, and not what man interpreted.

As a gay man I'd say it is 100% not a choice. Who would choose it? When you're in school it is terrifying of being outed by anyone. You think your parents/mates will reject you if you dare come out. You're almost living half a life until you tell that first person.

I told my best mate nearly 2 years ago now and my parents last year when I was 21. After a rocky start with my parents it is now just not an issue.

Although I am gay, I have been with a lot more girls than what I have men. Even when I go out now, I tend to go with girls. I don't know why I do it, it could be an arrogance thing. In part though, I feel that I am doing the right thing if I go with women. After a man I'd go through terrible regret for a long time.

There are more 'straight' men who have been with men than what you'd think.

As mentioned in a similar thread a few months back, I am gay and find the suggestion that your sexuality is a personal choice to be a bit ignorant. Coming to terms with my sexuality was a turbulent time and after a few failed relationships with females, I ended the charade in my early 20's. Why someone would choose that is beyond me... Although pulling is waaaayyyy easier!
