For all of RM's faults, his transfers were on the whole very good. He has generally brought a higher quality of player barring a few... I think when he first came, he made the mistake of doing what most managers do when switching from clubs, gfoing back to where they came from for easy targets. Most of the players we've brought in under Martinezx you can see have some talent, hell, even McGeady has his moments and makes you see why some managers take to him, but obviously as a whole not good enough..
Deulofeu,
Besic (raw but there is certainly a player there)
McCarthy (Again, bit off recently but you can see what he can do defensively when hes on his game)
Lukaku (Not an unknwon or even a risk but manageed to get 25 goals out of a poor performing team)
Lennon (He's been okay aznd shown glimpses, not a great signing, not a bad one).
Joel (Ditto above)
Kone (Really not sure with this one, Thi8nk he just wanted a back up striker and was an easy buy, knew what he can do and didn't wanna go further)
Barry (Lets face it all of us didnt agree on signing Barry, turned out to be an excellent signing).
Cleverly (Not good enough as a starter, squad player maybe.
Niasse (Strange one, appears to be an awful player in just what, 90 minutes of football for the club, some achievement).
Mori (Excellent signing imo, strong, presence in the air, needs to refine a few things but under the right management...)
Traore (Didn't have any chance to do anything, made 2 appearances, can't judge properly).
Worth givingt this Tarashaj the benefit, hes new to Swiss first team, he's played alot for Grasshopper which is promising. I have no doubt RM could spot talent in a player, hte issues are that he couldn't organise a defence.
Feel like ive missed someone out. On the whole He'd done relatively well in the market barring Kone and Niasse. Not amazing, but the general is good quality of player. His first window was a very good one. Deulofeu, Lukaku and McCarthy.
