I love your optimism and genuinely hope you are right. But 40 years of supporting Everton tells me every game is hard and we'll do very well to win this one with the players we have out and the scheduling of fixtures. I'd be hopeful of a win but not confident. I just don't think we've got enough quality on the pitch to be anything more than cautiously optimistic. Our four best players are out. Many of the remaining players in our side are not substantially better than many of their opponents tonight. James, Digne, Richarlison, and Allan demonstrably are. Alex Iwobi, Tom Davies, etc not so much. So we've lost much of what makes us "better" than Sheffield United - who, I believe, finished well ahead of us last season.

Here's hoping DCL comes up trumps and Gylfi has one of his better games.
Ya. Its not easy . But they are also missing key players . We are coming off 3 league wins in a row against 2 of the top 6 included.
If our attitude is right we win.

Spot on mate. People are going on about our players who are out but don't realise that Sheff utd have been ravaged as well with their key players out. Also there is a reason they are rooted to the bottom of the table with no wins out of 14 games and only 2pts from a possible 42pts, the reason is that they are absolutely cack.
Supporters have a terrible mentality .
If we hadn't played united midweek we would all be saying this game was a piece of cake . There is no middle ground for most .
It won't be easy. But we should win .

I live in hope. Don't get me wrong, a good side that is greater than the sum of its parts goes there and wins tonight against a side struggling badly. I'm just not convinced that we are all that good without James, Allan, Digne, and Richarlison. I think many of our available players are not really of a standard that puts them out of reach of a Sheffield United, so, in essence, I don't trust them to do what a good side would do and get the win. That's what the players need to change: make the fans believe - and then back it up with performances and results that reinforce that belief. I just don't believe in them right now. I believe in Carlo and, to some extent, Moshiri - but not so much in many of the players brought in by the likes of Silva and Koeman.

To illustrate why my lack of faith is hardly baseless, we have not won a single game without Richarlison in his time with the club. Tonight, we are without Richarlison. If that record does not end tonight, one wonders why it ever would with this collection of players.

Huge ask to win any Prem game without Rich, Allan, James and Digne. 4 of our 5 best players. Can’t help but feel that they’re long overdue a win and we’re weakened enough to give it to them.

We have zero creativity or midfield. Think any team in the league would fancy their chances

....Sheffield United are literally fighting for their PL existence so they won’t be found wanting for attitude and effort. This will be tough. Regardless of who we have available we have to match their effort.

Only two teams out of 14 have dropped points against them - for me if we have anything about us we need to be handling these with.

For all their attitude to stay up, if we win today we're clear second in the league.

Are we definitely without Richy?
