Should players be sent off for wasting time .

Player Valuation: £40m
I just watched Jamal Lewis being sent off while playing for Northern Ireland yesterday. He got a second yellow for wasting time after 36 minutes of the first half. After I finished playing I refereed for a short while. I always told teams that if they wasted time I would add it on and I would be quite generous with the time to be added on. Generally it done the trick.
Sending a player off, particularly in the first half, for time wasting when you are the arbitrator of the amount of time to be played annoys the life out of me.

For cases like this, there should be a time limit for a throw in, say 10 seconds from when the player taking the throw touches the ball or 5 seconds from when the ref blows the whistle if the time runs out it's a foul throw. Look at that clip there's nobody attempting to make themselves available for him to throw to, put a timer on it and they'll make themselves available.

there are so many areas that the game can improve your suggestion is a great one, another is letting the trainer come onto the pitch to treat injuries while the game goes on.Then there is no tactical advantage 'to go down', works a treat in rugby league. Similarly with really close VAR calls, if it takes more than 5 seconds to review a call, go with the infield decision. Works a treat in cricket.

I've always said that this should be changed to what you say.. not only will it stop players going down to stop play, but a player who's actually injured gets seen to quicker.
