Should we be concerned about Newcastle winning the thingy-cup?

We spend a fair amount, but nowhere near the quality of signings Newcastle made. They spent 60 millions plus on a striker, something that not many team would have been able to do, not even the top teams in the country. We were always competing for the top teams rejects, not really competing with the top teams for the best players.

Is that not a damning statement of how we did our recruitment?

We paid more for Sigurdsson than they did Bruno. Why didn't we look further than the PL?

They saw the market for what they needed and done it. I can't sit there and moan that they've spent money, when we spent recklessly. We ended up being the model for all clubs around us on how not to operate.

I'd like to see the money spent between our splurging and theirs, I imagine it won't be too different. Now our struggles should be over, I'm
Excited to see how we do with a second crack.

Really couldn’t care but it’s nice they beat the rs
Ha ha ha the closet rs fan outing himself with the middle finger. As for the thread title i'm happy to see the Geordies finally achieve some long awaited success.

As for being concerned no Spurs won a League Cup in 2008, and it didn't turn them into a superpower. I'm only concerned about us finally getting our house in order.

Any team apart from the usual few winning a trophy should be inspirational to us. Same as Villa last year and Forest this year getting Champions League. All three were in the same situation as we were in January within the last few years. Take inspiration from it

Opinions seem divided about the significance of Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup for Everton FC.

Some seem nea in the game thread. Others seem concerned about the consequences on the behaviour of the Geordies towards Everton and Evertonians.

What's your view?
I think the answer is there for all to see and hear since 7pm this evening. They're now akin to the Second Coming.

Not worried. We weren't arsed when Aguerrroooooooooooo won City their first PL trophy. A year after their first major trophy (the FA Cup) in yonks. Nobody batted an eyelid then.

Wigan won the FA Cup, they ended up in League One
Birmingham won the Carling Cup, they ended up in League One
Blackburn won the Carling Cup, they ended up in League One
Swansea won the Carling Cup, they were relegated 5 years later
Wimbledon won the FA Cup, they ended up in the middle of nowhere

Personally I'm holding out for Newcastle to be relegated to the Conference for proxy crimes against humanity. But yeah, one less trophy for RS is never a bad thing.

Today a lesser of two evils Newcastle winning.

They have had 4-5 years of money stable management.

We’ve had 4 months. Give it time bus us winning trophies soon
