A couple of wins will sort it out but we have looked [Poor language removed] lately.

Getting beat while playing well is another thing. Lets hope its a blip.

Getting dogs in the title of a thread. Ace.

Seriously- we have two poor games and thats it, WE ARE [Poor language removed]! It makes me cringe like you wouldnt believe when I read threads like this.

Lets give some facts:
1) This is the best squad of players we've had since the late 80's.
2) This is probably the best manager we have had since the 80's.
3) We currently have Cahill and Vaughan injured, who will be like new signings when back.
4) We lost to a decent Villa team who are improving under O'neill, we lost to the current Premier League champions with an 86th Minute header. we drew 1-1 with a team that rode their luck when we missed TWO penalties.

For god sake get a grip!

reading - poor
bolton - we were battered for long spells
man ure - worth a draw but hardly inspiring
metalist - atrocious
villa - pedestrian

thats not a couple of games unfortunately.

i dont like number 3, i still get cold sweats after the ''three new signings'' malarky from a couple of seasons ago on the OS.

wheres the innovative moyes that let the 4-1-4-1 loose on the league? that inspired such dogged determined displays where every player would rather die than lose a clean sheet? give me defensive boring grinding out of results that at least show some desire instead of the current amateurish loping about and failure to take responsibility when the ball isnt running our way.

they were boo'd off on thursday night, and rightly so.

they have to change it round, they are the ones wearing the shirts and getting the amazing wages.

And its not as if we didnt have the funds in the summer.

Twenty odd million spent should improve a side that finished sixth last summer.

If we score loads of goal and play some ace stuff in the next four games I will go back to being positive.

with the exception of point 4, I agree with all of the above. Well, apart from the two bad games. Blackburn was bad, reading was bad, metalist was bad, man U was bad, as were villa and bolton.

not a couple of games is it?

The problems in the team that I've highlighted have been problems for some time. I'm waiting for Moyes to remedy this. He is the best manager we've had for a long time, but it doesn't lend him infallibility or put him beyond question. We've been needing to improve the quality of the squad for awhile now. This is no knee jerk reaction to current form even if it has been precipitated by it.

Any excuses regarding injuries are precisely that - a squad is developed to deal with the inevitability of injuries, particularly in a busy european season. It was Moyes decision to go down a road of a smaller rather than a broader squad.

I don't consider myself a negative poster, I think its realism when you consider the results and analyse the way we play. Optimism can only paper over the cracks so far.

I'm coming slowly to the conclusion that Moyes' philosophy, actively precludes buying players of culture, flair, creativity and techinique - with certain exceptions. I also know that Moyes is always learning, which is the sign of a great manager IMO, so I'm sure he will get on this in the near future (he already tried in fernandes and Riquelme)

Its not that I want everton to play in the style of arsenal, effective football is good for me, we just need quality.

Anyway, cringe all you want at posts like these.

I only cringe when everton play as [Poor language removed] as they have recently.

(and if its not [Poor language removed] was is the word for it?)

I am not demanding Moyes out but think that he needs someone to guide him and hopefully tell him that we will put up with a lot but there is a limit and playing the dross that we have is just about there Much as I hate to see us lose it hurts more when there is no attempt to play football .

I'm not suggesting a change of management. Seems ludicrously premature.

I just think Moyes should be aware of the dissatisfaction of a large amounts of fans with regard to some of the issues that have been continously raised on forums such as these - hoofing the ball, lack of distribution from the back, lack of quality in midfield, failure to keep possession, poor service to the forwards etc.

I just expect a change in the overall philosophy, not a complete abandonment of it. Look at Spurs, who are technically superior but have no team spirit, nil emphasis on the defensive aspects of the game, and when push comes to shove no steel or fight in them.

Moyes has most of it right, we need that bit of quality in midfield and some coaching on fundamentals and an emphasis on passing and keeping possession.

and if we are to keep playing longer balls we need a big dunc figure. as its pointless hoofing to AJ, faddy etc.

It makes me cringe because 2 weeks ago we were brilliant and we were going to be in the champions league etc etc!!! Now we are [Poor language removed] we should be looking at Moyes and the team and saying they are [Poor language removed]!

There have been a few teams that have had a patchy start- the dirty mancs, Spurs and even Chelsea. The team is gelling together and Im not making excuses but this team has the potential to be top class- just read through the names:

Howard
Lescott
Yobo
Arteta
Cahill
Jagielka
Vaughan
AJ
Yakubu

Call it optimism or just blind faith but I think that group of players will soon 'click' and we are on to a winner.

Blues 4 Boro 0 (AJ Hatrick)

you missed tommy mick but i agree with you.
with half a team out what do people expect

no surprises from Everton today. Result was exactly what I thought it would be. A convinving victory to Villa.

Players were poor, squad looks poor and if the manager continues to buy players that show endeavour, guts, hard work and spirit to the detriment of skill, technique, touch, culture and creativity - then the manager is poor as well.

Sick of these lacklustre piss poor performances. Can't fault their work rate, just their ability. And for a team that has spent so much money - ability should be beyond question.

They honestly look like they have the skill of a championship side.

If we had players with skill, then the hearts these players have could maybe win the league, but you need to be able to play a bit as well.

With the exception of Baines, these players are starting to look shocking.

it was moyes' tactics to build a tiny squad, with quality in the first 11 and not much beyond. We are starting to pay the price for his lack of foresight.

I say this and I consider myself a moyes fan. I think its time we should look to europe for players, had enough of these english style hit it and hope merchants.

When was the last time we outclassed newcastle, spurs, liverpool, man U, arsenal etc. Yes we've beaten them all, some quite convincingly - but never outclassed them with silky passing and combined moves.

sick of this gung ho dogs of war [Poor language removed].

QUALITY??????

Well at the moment we have 3 quality attacking midfielders injured so we are having to make do. If Arteta, Cahill and Gravesen are fit we won't be so war like, trust me. In January we are also likely to bring in another midfielder, so don't be so worried.

Be thankful we don't have to play a centre midfielder in defence because we have nobody else. (Chelsea) ;)
