I'm sure that's the modern reasoning for it.

I never understood the concept of 'daylight saving'. To help the farmers, right? Putting the clocks forward doesn't change the laws of astrophysics, there's still the same number of daylight hours each day, just shifted by an hour. Why don't the farmers just get up an hour earlier?

It's completely irrelevant these days. Helps absolutely no-one. Annoys everybody.
