Signs Of The Coming Of Winter

The rats move back into the garden shed after spending Summer elsewhere and ignore all forms of poison and traps that are put down for them.

Then rub it in by sitting on the shed roof sunbathing in full view.

Any ideas how to get rid ?

Ps I haven't got an air gun or a Jack Russell !

Putting the poison in the wrong place mate. 100% success rate I have had over the years. 2 cats sort them now.

Where's the best place to put it ?

Tried the middle of the floor, in a corner, they just leave the poison and if I put traps down, they spring them and take the bait.

Their intelligence and ability to adapt is incredible !

I know, you go out to buy you're boiler and all the things you need with comes at an extra cost like the flu, the timer and the thermo control, it's like buying a bike and having to pay extra for the chain the seat and handle bars.

I had two blokes for 2 and a half days fitting it! Plus it was in January 2013.

Remember some fella in a pub we were in once trying to show of by moving the logs in the fire with the toe of his boot. He set fire to the bottom of his trousers and the whole pub cheered when the licensee threw a pint on to his trousers to put it out !
Sounds like a magical evening , shame about the loss of the ale.

Its even better when your mate falls in it when bladdered !
;)

You have to find their runs. They are very habitual, so will use the same route(s) when outside. Even better if you know where the entrances to their burrows are. Buy a tub of the stuff, which should be in plastic bags, about 20-25 units per tub.

Put the bags, unopened, at the mouth of the burrow, best way, cover the exit with an old tile or wood. The male rat will find the poison when he goes out to find food, so you have made it easy for him! He will take the bag back to his family, and feed them the poison. Will take a few goes, and if one dies outside the burrow, it isnt very pleasant to witness I am afraid.

If they are nesting under a shed, lob some packets under there, and revisit it each day to see if the bags have gone. If they have, rats will soon be toast.

Slaymore Rat Baits are the one I have used. Twice in 15 years, so it works.

Thanks for that. I think the main nests are in an uninhabited barn conversion nearby which the fella has been doing up for years and coming into ours due to feed on the bird table ( seem them on it ! ). Will get some of the poison you have recommend and see how I get on . Cheers .
