Silva sacked - Official thread

Not feeling relief, feeling like we've gone down yet another dead end. We can't go on like this, we need to get it right. As a club this is the lowest we have been since the Smith era.

Right now I think we are one bad appointment from facing a relegation battle over the next two years. Something drastic needs to change. We need someone to rip everything about the modern day Everton a part and transform the way we the fans and players view the club.

Need either a manager that has his own credibility (likely a very well established history of success) and can build his own culture, or one who can make EFC matter to players from all over the globe who weren't around during better days for the club. Have to accept that a 17 year old from Italy or Ghana may not think of Everton the way someone like Baines or Jags did, and that may have to be instilled/relayed

We are asking for someone to do an incredible job but it is what we need. We can´t just appoint another flavour of the month, we will just be in this situation again before we know it.

Reckon the whole players staying behind by moshiri was moshiri basically saying youse are all a disgrace and it's tour futures at the club in jeopardy not just the managers ( or something like that)

I really really hope he did

Maybe the board had no choice but to sack him. I think he really loved this football club and have never doubted his commitment. I also don’t think he is a poor coach unlike some on here but there are elements of his tactics in game which leave a lot to be desired. But I honestly think he must have ran over a black cat during the summer break. Nearly every marginal game this season has gone against us as well as some costly decisions. Injuries haven’t helped either. What I will say is we need a proven midfielder or two, a centre half and maybe a striker in January regardless of what coach we get in. I’m more worried that the board haven’t got a clue who to appoint. They should allow brands to do this but I have a feeling Bill is in Moshiri’s ear and we will end up with Moyes on a long contract. I don’t believe in 2nd honeymoons I didn’t go well for Howard although I’m eternally grateful to him for keeping us up 3rd time around

Good assessment. Equally important to get rid of the utter dross amongst the playing staff at the club.

Unfortunately conceding five goals at the pit made his position untenable, as much as the players should be held as accountable as the manager.

Obviously sad that he’s gone.

genuinely felt he’d be the answer, sadly, I don’t think he ever quite recovered from last seasons derby.

I remember going to wolves On opening day, last season, and coming away really pleased at the attack minded way.

he just couldn’t continue that way, and we basically became the Roberto ending team a season early.

we won’t go down, so no hard feelings but please get the next manager right. No Dyche, No Howe.

Funny you say that about the derby last year. I had a conversation today with someone that said if Pickford had kept that ball out, Silva wouldn't be on the verge of losing his job.

I’ve got no argument with that. I just hope the board have got a plan as we all know what debacle was created before Fat Sam arrived.

Good post. If it weren't for the bad luck, silva wouldn't have any luck at all.

Though maybe Watford fans would say that there was some karma at work for the way his form seemed to drop once our interest was apparent. Maybe it was ill fated from the outset?
