This is based on something called MovieFone that used to exist in America. You would call this hotline and a guy with a voice exactly like this would tell you what movies were playing at your local theater.

Can't believe I've only now seen this thread. The Simpsons, in my humble opinion, is a masterpiece. Makes children and adults laugh alike, but for different things.
