..never forget that he broke the Old Firm domination with Aberdeen and then took them to win a European trophy. Special football man and a special man who has stood by his political beliefs and is a real family person.
Dundee "United " did indeed win the league funnily enough at dens park (dundee fc)Could be argued that him and Jim Mclean (?) at Dundee United created their own New Firm axis back then. Both did well in Europe, iirc, not sure if Dundee won the league mind.
Dundee UNITED won the league in 83, were then cheated out of the 84 European cup final by Roma in the semi. (Utd would have smashed the RS in the final too)Could be argued that him and Jim Mclean (?) at Dundee United created their own New Firm axis back then. Yes a very weird /fixed second leg with the Arabs 2-0 up from the first.Dundee UNITED won the league in 83, were then cheated out of the 84 European cup final by Roma in the semi. (Utd would have smashed the RS in the final too)
It truly was a great period for Scottish football.
I think I read that they're keeping him in the induced coma to give him a chance to get stronger and repair after the op. He got a pacemaker a few years ago like me and has had rhythm problems requiring the paddles to be used as I did before Xmas. It's a shame that the blood thinners they give you to stop clots forming can also make you susceptible to a bleed - as with Alex. He's in a great hospital there apparently so he's got a fighting chance to pull through hopefully.I still haven’t seen any updates, no news is good news I suppose.
Hope we see him soon.
