Down to one good eye battling conjunctivitis, Donovan had an assist and a goal in beating el Tri 2-0. He played left wing which I haven't seen since he played there for Everton when Pienaar was injured.

I watched on Mexican TV and their announcers declared him legendary.

1. I think that Mexican defender had money on 2-0 the way he stutters weirdly to allow the ball to reach the back post

On the first part, Dempsey slightly deflects the ball, which caused the defender to act the way he did.

Though if that was Mier (I can't watch the video at the moment) Donovan pretty much owned him the entire match.

Normally I'd agree with you but they are woefully out of form. This is the worst I've seen them in the past ten to fifteen years. Their confidence is shot and the pressure will be sky high on them if they finish fourth.

On the second part, he put the ball in a quickly as he should have. Watching the replay, If he didn't side foot it the defender might have been able to get a foot on it. Plus he was right in front of the goal.
