Blues,

Some GOT 'stuff' - for the "I'M NOT READING ALL THAT" I've used some user-friendly bold.

App
We'll should have our new iOS/Android app by the end of March.

It will be an update on the existing app, so if you have it installed already please keep it on your device.

It does seem to be a bit of a expense - various subscriptions are needed (both listing and data) and then we have to pay a developer to perform necessary updates to keep up to speed with technology changes and compliance dictated by Apple/Google, but feedback was very positive and so, we're continuing with it for the time being but there may become a point in the future when it just becomes too costly to maintain.

Moderation
When asking for feedback some of you asked to be able to view your own warnings - I actually thought you all could. Turned out we needed to add this feature to the forum, as of today you can now all view your own warning points - it's a tab on your profile page. This should show you all your warnings, but importantly how many are active and how many warning points you currently have - basically you should now know when you're on a yellow card and should never again have to ask why you were suspended.

In addition, to improve moderating visibility - by default all posts that have been dealt with/warned, will now show a little public message to say so.

Perm Bans
I'm trying to push through a end of season amnesty on perm bans where we revoke all (with exception of the really severe) with bans then being a maximum of 6 months (provided again, not severe). Feel free to help lobby other moderators that this is a good idea.

Adblock
If you use a device that forces you to have Adblock enabled - perhaps in work, can you please send me a direct/private message
? We're in talks with a software provider to deny access to the forum to anyone with Adblock enabled, but we absolutely need to ensure there is a solution in place that doesn't prevent access to people who aren't being snide.

Prints
We've had two designs produced, one will be available in our shop shortly
. Please keep an eye out ;)

Sidebar
You may have noticed a sidebar to the right of all pages on the forum. Previously this sidebar was only on the home page, I've enabled it forum wide. Currently I'm reviewing to ensure it doesn't hammer our server's resource - if it's alright, then we'll look to enhance it with a few relevant widgets. It won't stay as is, there's too much white space and there will be a toggle option to remove the sidebar entirely.

To be honest, I suspect this happens in a way anyway, as more established members (who would have more points) do have a bit of benefit of the doubt given in a way that newer members perhaps don't (because they haven't built up so much credit). It's just informally applied rather than something specific and overt.

But that would be subjective evaluation from moderator to moderator. My suggestion would place it on a systemic footing.

True, but then tbh that is the nature of modding. We try to be as consistent as we can, but there will inevitably be a degree of variance. I see your point though.

not sure mate, maybe a mod can explain how it works? Then maybe your idea might be more viable?

It's been a while since it was setup, but I believe points are awarded for a range of stuff, from the age of your account to the number of posts/likes.

Its extremely rare for a long standing poster to get a ban on an accumulation of points Dave. One, because they dont generally swear, (the most often warned points), and Two, as Bruce says, we do actually take a look and see if a minor bump will get a short ban.

There is a huge degree of individuality about how we work, and its only when serious/out of character behaviour manifests itself that a discussion might ensue.

edit. Oh, and what Bruce says.

I dont doubt all that. I'm fully aware that I've been given a fair bit of latitude over the years and its appreciated.

As said mate, it's just feedback. I thought an idea to make things more connected that would lead to less of a governance workload was one worth saying out loud.

I have to admit, I would not be a fan of changing how it works, the mods do a great job, yes its subjective at times, but thats part of the fact we have actual humans (i use that term loosely!) making decisions, otherwise we would have auto banning by bots...

Haha very funny. I was banned for the very first time in my life this week for precisely that reason
