I have said it before and i will say it again, all this money is slowly killing the game. Some of the money being splashed out this summer is ludicrous. With the world in a poor financial state, it amazes me that the market in football has not been affected, infact it has done the complete opposite and is spiraling out of control.

I am begining to really look forward to the demise of Man City.

We will finish ahead of them again, remember where you heard it.

Yes, from the feller that gave us the takeover thread....the thread that died of shame. :dodgy:

Must admit, I think it's getting stupid. Tell you what, I'd hate to be a promising young lad in the City youth team right now. What chance have they got in progressing through to the first team...? What's the point in even having a youth system when they can just buy whoever they want, whenever they want.

Samuel Eto'o's agent has hinted the striker is leaning towards staying with Barcelona, rather than joining Manchester City.

City are thought to have lodged a £25 million bid for the Cameroon international with Barca president Joan Laporta claiming a "stratospheric offer" had been made.

Reports have suggested the 28-year-old stands to become the highest-paid player in the world if he moves to Eastlands, with a figure of £250,000 a week wages quoted by some newspapers.

But Eto'o's representative has said, as things stand, his client will not move elsewhere this summer and instead remain at the Camp Nou.

Josep Maria Mesalles told ONA FM: "If there is not a 180-degree turnaround then he will stay with Barcelona."

Barca are believed to want to cash in on Eto'o before his current deal expires at the end of next season, when he would be able to leave on a Bosman free transfer.

Eto'o is thought to be upset by this stance, feeling he is being forced out of the club, and he could decide to stay in a bid to derail the club's plans.

Some reports are claiming that the former Real Madrid and Mallorca striker is demanding a £15m signing-on bonus to join City.

The three-times African Player of the Year was instrumental in Barca's unprecedented Liga, Copa Del Rey and Champions League treble last season, finding the back of the net 36 times.
