My telly exploding 2 minutes into the opening game of USA 94. I still fume about that whenever I think about it.

Also the sublime - if slightly meffy - Hagi in that same tournament. He was ace, like a european Maradona (for a week) but without the coke and guns.

For me it is USA vs Germany 2002. I had just moved to Germany for the first time and was watching the game is a room full of Germans and Americans. Very tense crowd. Even though we lost, still represented well.

1986 Mexico, Lineker netting all over the show. England were [Poor language removed].

1990 Italia, Toto slotting all over the shop. England were ace.

1994 US, done well on the betting. England didn't qualify.

1998 France, afternoon drinking in various pubs watching, the tournament was a bit tosh. England were [Poor language removed].

2002 Japan, was in Cyprus, before the England v Argentina game I saw some lads run down the street with a massive Argentina flag followed about four seconds later by a loads of English fans after them. England were [Poor language removed].

2006 Germany, was in Spain and had a dysfunctional back window squirter on my car that sprayed to the right hand side of the car. I drove home when Spain got knocked out slowing down and squirting all the Spanish fans on the pavements, they went mad. England were [Poor language removed].

1. '66 Final. I was 8 and watched it on telly with my dad.

2. Mexico v Soviet Union 1970. Opening game of competition and the first game I saw in colour on my uncles telly.

3. Gordon Banks' save from Pele 1970. Has this ever been bettered?

4. Brazil v Italy 1970. Carlos Alberto, probably the best goal ever.

5. Gemmills goal against Holland 1978, just superb.

2002 Korea

Denmark v Uruguay purely because it was my first ever world cup match in the flesh. Korea totally rocked out that whole tournament with the whole nation dressed in the teams gear. You could not walk down the street without being stopped 20 times or so with group after group wanting their pic taken with you.

Best memory (amongst many) was going in to a restaurant to go to the W/C and taking shots of soju all the way to the pisser from all the tables and then shots all the way back to the door. must have had about 10 shots in a couple of minutes. i literally walked in sober and walked out pissed.

the whole restaurant turn to me (in my england colours) and as one shout dae han min gook! (victory Korea). Not a hint of malace and taken in the sprirt it was intended gave them a couple of Eng-er-lands on the way out.

The match ended 2-1 to Denmark. They brought thousands over. I was well impressed.

Italy '90 will always stand out for me. As it's the 1st World Cup i remember and was really into......

Toto scalatchi Was fantastic and Gazza cried his leg off.>!!!

I didn't start watching until 2002. The most memerable match for me and the day I became a big footie fan was Senegal's 2-1 OT win over Sweden. Senegals (not on youtube) 1st goal was sweet 5 passes on the ground from one end of the pitch to the other. It was so sweet that even the Sweden coach smiled.

In that tourney I loved the round of 16 5-3 Brasil win over Costa Rica wide open footie and both teams just said screw it we aren't playing any D.

All my world cup memories are with my dad. Lots involving just sitting and staring at the tv after a penalty loss not speaking for hours and hours! Just sitting there in total disbelief.

However, my fave world cup memory was USA 94, it was a late game in the first knock out stage between Bulgaria and mexico (I think it was Mexico). It was an awful match that went on for hours, but dad and I powered through until some div broke the goal and it took about an hour for them to replace it. When they did it was about midnight here, I saw dad drifting off, then I did, but we both wake up at the EXACT time the penalties started! Brilliant!

Gazza crying, Sol Cambells disallowed Goal, Beckham knocking pigeons of the stadium roof silly f**ker you were supposed to be taking a penalty
