Horrified watching that video. Will a boycott have any impact? Can the platforms do more to stop this?

Watched that last night and it sad to see.
This boycott imo wont do anything, you wont change the mind or mentality of people who do this sort of stuff.
I'm not sure we will ever get rid of racism.

What they need to do is make sure opening a social media account isn't as easy as just providing an email address and away you go abusing people online.
They should be verified by phone numbers which are then linked to your address as most people are on contracts. At least this way they will think twice about doing it and will be fearful of punishment.

Apart from GOT, I don't go on social media. That really is horrific.

Watched that last night and it sad to see.

Yeah don’t think racism is going anywhere but the consequences need to be harsher surely? The message he reads out isn’t just a racial slur, it’s a full on diatribe.

Pointless. A few days without posting is a joke. If they really want to make an impact then stop using social media completely. Don't use it as an official way to communicate with fans.

It's not gonna change anything, A clap for trying to force the hand of these social media companies but they're back on what Tuesday? You can make a fresh new twitter account in 5 minutes flat or facebook or insta and just keep the cycle going unless they bring in some hefty changes which they won't.

I only believe some form of ID/credit card details by signing up is the only way to stop it imo because they'd need full time moderation for this sort of thing, Phone numbers are pointless you can access so many virtual phones on the internet these days for message verifications, Tricky place the internet these days.

I personally dont think doing this will make one bit of a difference and its the real fans missing out via the way Clubs have stoped posting, if anything doing this Boycott make's the trolls know they are been taken notice of and they may come back even worst, sure i seen the likes of twitter say something in response to this boycott saying they get rid of 90% of stuff said, but i suppose the old saying is something has to be done by clubs to make this abuse to known about etc, All they [Twitter and co etc] have to do is stop the like's of anonymous accounts, and do some type of verification Tick for none celebrities/normal people etc

Noticed this chat being advertised on BBC Breakfast, thanks for bringing it to our attention on here WB we know it goes on but that is abhorrent and it's sad to see a decent guy and a tough nut like Wrighty getting upset, knowing he has to deal with that on a daily basis.
It's more than frustrating knowing there's little being done about this and it appears to be getting worse instead of better.
We've educated enough now it's 2021 for God's sake time to hammer and embarrass those who are caught.

Amazingly social media can get on any copyrighted music straight-away but they can’t/won’t tackle online abuse.

Makes me think it’s all down to money, like most things these days.

I was shocked by how vitriolic it was. I’ve obviously heard people make racist jokes or nasty comments but never anything like that - can only think it’s because the individual feels brave behind a screen.
