Some optimism...

Post of the thread....

More than just the actual Football, brought Dads and Lads together for over a century! I'm sitting next to my old man this Saturday.

Exactly! Its not the transfer window or jim friggin white that gives you that rush inside you of a pint before the game, the roar of the crowd when they come out to z cars, its the actual football and supporting the club with your fellow blues. (Even if they are turning into a bunch of moaning barstewards)

When we finish top 6 this season cant wait to retwet all the people on twitter who wre ready to jump off a bridge because crystal palace bought conor wickham and stoke bought sanchez de spanishman from barca d

Every summer I get excited for the new season, I can't help it. Each summer I think imagine if we went on a mad run and actually finished top 4 comfortably and won a cup.

It fades as the season goes on, but I still love doing it every year!!

Can't wait till we finish 2nd.

Given this thread is all about positivity, at least we know were the artetaMoney has gone.....

Right under our bloody noses !

Everything else is dark and negative in my world so that is the best your getting from me.

Goodbye

....bit more optimism about today, both Mirallas and McCarthy reportedly on verge of new contracts, the on loan acquisition of a very promising South American youngster and RM saying he's still in the hunt for 3 new players. That's more like it.

Had a clear out at the weekend and I found my old Salmon Pink/blue stripe top from 93 I think it was and it still fits! Well, sort of.
I'm taking this a portent to something good

How many of us confidently predicted at one time or another in recent months that Mirallas and Garbutt would no longer be with us by the end of the summer ? The fact that they've both committed their future to us when other options were available speaks volumes about Martinez's Everton. McCarthy signing is no surprise, but no less welcome. We can't draw a line under the Stones saga yet, but I think the balance of probabilities is that Stones will stay, and key to this is that the player himself isn't actively pushing for a move.

I've not even mentioned Aaron Lennon, pining away in his north London mansion, who would come to us like a shot if he got the call.

There's a common factor here : a love of the club, a rapport with the players, a desire to be part of Martinez's project. That's something money can't buy. It bodes well for the long season ahead.

No ACL or snapped achiles injuries for players to be coming back from. A couple of the players at the shorter end of contracts have signed up for some more in blue. Another year of growing into adulthood and some peripheral prem experience for the likes of Ledson. Theres some rubbish in the league and the middle pack is much like it was - good pecause it will push those left standing at the end of season all the way for those top four places.

  • Baines shows his ankle was all that was holding him back

FFS.

Okay, I can do this ...
  • Oviedo is back to his form the last time he replaced Baines, and Martinez has a tough call to make when Leighton returns.
Phew.
