Realistically, Liverpool should go for someone like Dick Advocaat or Deschamps. People who know the British scene, have some experience but wont get a sniff at managing one of the big Euro guns. They'd never attract a Mourinho or Pep Guardiola.

Oh definitely Dick, Phil Brown has slipped to no 2.

Ronald Koeman would definately be the perfect candidate.

Looking through blue tinted glasses that is.:D

The thing i admire most about Rafael is not only did he make a bags of the first team but has managed to make a bags of their youth system and academy teams as well.

A job well done.

This.

I've seen a decent game out of Martin Kelly and that's it. The rest are unknown. I've heard people like Spearing and Darby feted but they look like mediocre players to me. He got rid of their best academy player, Warnock.

I'm not sure what kind of job Steve Heighway did for them, but I'd guess the restructuring was around jibbing the local talent pool (probably because they know Everton have this wrapped up by realistically offering the best route to the top) and replacing it with a system where they employ the FSW's Spanish hombres to buy in young talent from other clubs (N'Gog, Insua etc)...something that we do but aren't reliant on being a success.

The "re-restructuring" job they face when Benitez goes will be immense.
