Honestly, you could put anyone in this side at this point, amazing effort by Siggy aside, they'll lose.

In modern football, whether you believe in pressure a lot or even a little, when one team is pressuing the ball and the other is not, the results should not be a surprise. Southampton has the ball all day with no pressure at all. Even worse, when we DO win the thing, we don't know how to counter attack. No idea how to. Soooo many goals get scored right after a giveaway. That's the whole point of the counter.

We are literally doing neither. Not pressuring, not counter attacking. Our personnel in the back are bad enough, but when you can't even play a logic tactic with any cohesion, you get picked apart.

Seriously, even when we pressure, I see Gana pressuring a center back. Huh? That's completely insane unless you've got your whole team up pressuring everyone.

Need a few passers in the team, IMO. Nobody can pass. If we could pass, we would be better.

Problem is whose making intelligent runs to pass to?.... When you have no one of class upfront, or no real quality out wide, it becomes hard to pick out passes.... Our problem is up front, and the backline, Gueye/sneiderlin/Sigurdsson would be a decent trio if we could give them options

Although im delighted we scored. It just papers over massive cracks. To be fair to Unsworth the team selection wasnt that bad. The problems are bigger than that though. No one in the squad with pace at Centre Back who plays there regularly. Slow midfield. No back up left back. No left footed left winger in the squad. No target man. Despite having loads of 'number 10's' none of them are the creative number 10 we actually needed, like a Mata or Silva type. New manager needed asap, but first sack the fraud Walsh. And anyone who was involved in this crazy transfer policy

Totally agree. The defence has been the issue all season but the Lukaku loss is what makes headlines. We just need setting up properly, compactly, with a style of attack that the players understand.

Anyone can pick a team. It's organising them into a unit that is the hard bit and he's shown he's not yet ready at this level.
