McNeil has had a handful of games, some as part of a “fluid” front 3 without a striker, and now a couple with Maupay. Given what we know he can be decent at, I’d imagine he was brought in to put it on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s bonce.

Not that, as a professional footy player, he shouldn’t be able to do anything else, but I see it as genuine mitigation. I think he’ll settle down into being a very decent squad player for us.

Why do you think that? He doesn’t even get into crossing positions.

Why is Maupay taking that throw. Slow it down guys.

It would have to be a weird edge case for me to recall a striker taking a throw at any level. That's a 'they're on the run, get 'em, boys' move.

Better side, comfortable at the back and plenty half chances created. But they only metric that really counts is goals scored and we are struggling with that. Plenty time to win it though.

Yeah, I was thinking the same, wouldn't trust him to deliver a ball with an acre of space and plenty of time. Horrible striker of the ball, can't see anything in him.

Iwobi is still playing very good. I think we were the better team here, but we are lacking intelligent play in front of their goal.

Some decent play and fairly solid in defence and midfield but absolutely woeful in the final 3rd once again. Need Gordon on for the full 2nd half if he is well enough.

Thought that was a good half. Much better than Soton, just lacking an edge upfront

Encouraging overall performance in terms of control & progression but really aught to be in front here. The lack of final third quality is gonna frustrate us all season you feel..
