Southgate to remain England manager (For a While)

Are you messing? This squad is far better than anything we’ve had since probably 2006. Go and have a look at the 2010 and 2012 squads, they were laughably bad. I don’t think Southgate deserves credit for beating Iran, Wales, Senegal, Panama, Tunisia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Denmark and the worst Germany side of all time with these players, I honestly don’t.

Would you take Southgate as the next USA manager?
The question for me is would I take Gareth as the next Everton manager? Hell no!

I think there is room for way more analysis than that. A lot went right that was his doing. A lot has gone right that is his doing.

I think stylistically he's actually very comparable to the guy that just lifted the trophy. Obviously the difference is one of those managers has Messi. England however have the potential in 2024 and 2026 to have a top to bottom squad as good as any.

I don't even like you guys but you're a real threat!
The Argentina manager was very proactive. Arguably overly so. He was quick to switch to defensive tactics by taking off Di Maria and it almost cost them the game. At the same time, his aggressive choice to sub in Dybala was key to them winning the shootout as he was cool as a cucumber.

Southgate brought on Rashford for pens in the euro final. He had proven himself as calm under pressure taking key penalties. Fine margins.

You're never going to get all the big calls right.

Funny how you praise these kind of qualities in a manager and at the same time are Moyes' biggest cheerleader

Dybala has reached heights Rashford can only dream of at this stage though. He has much better technique so this was a moment for him to shine. Rashford is much more squirrely. When you have someone of Dybala's quality bringing him on was a no-brainer.

Would you take Scaloni? There's be an angry mob on the streets if he was our next manager. Deschamps would be more credible but still not to a level where you'd expect him to be any good in the prem.
Think we'd all have enjoyed seeing Fabio Capello role up to Goodison, though - and he was the worst England manager since WWII.

iow international manager is just a different game. Personality and the right vibes is worth way more than club footballing philosophy or track record.

Which is why I was hoping Frank might end up at England, but Southgate has done too well.

Steve Mclaren says Hi.

There's a few people saying Hi in that role tbh, been an absolute rectum of a managerial post by and large. Just recollect Capello's team absolutely stinking the place out 2010 - drew to USA, Algeria (?!), sneaked one past Slovenia then got stretchered by Germany 4-1.

At least they qualified
