Spurs Stadium Problems

Their business is worth £1mn & they have been offered £5mn & they want £25mn. Taking the piss. Spurs have settled with & relocated 70 other businesses amicably - they obviously didn't think we were riding rough shod over them.

Harringey is one of, if not the, poorest boroughs in London. Without the club it would be a wasteland. The vast majority of the other local businesses & residents are all for the new stadium. It will see the tube-line by extended to Northumberland Park & help regenerate the whole area.

Anyone that thinks this is a David vs Goliath battle on altruistic principles is sorely mistaken.

Anyone who thinks Crouch End and Muswell Hill - about half the area of Haringey - is poor is very, very wrong indeed. Newham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets are boroughs which are truly poor. Granted there are some bits of Tottenham itself and Wood Green which are pretty unpleasant. How much effort are Spurs putting in to those parts of their local community? Anything like as much as 'Everton in the Community'? When I worked in a school in Tottnham, we had absolutely no relationship with the club at all despite being within half a mile of the ground.

I don't recall too many people standing up for all the homeowners and businesses that were forced to sell due to CPOs for the Emirates or Olympic park! Woolwich have reneged on half the stuff they promised to do for the locals at Ashburton Grove but this seems to have been conveniently forgotten.

I hope you chaps are as sympathetic to the 'little guy' if an RS supporter holds up the development of a new Everton stadium for 7 years out of greed.

Still, we will get there in the end. Could do without a season at MK - its an 8 hour round trip by public transport!

Erm, this was all over the news for weeks for the Olympic Stadium. There may not have been rallies in the streets but there was plenty of support for the businesses forcibly turfed out of their sites.

Wembley is the obvious one isnt it? You would have to be a bit flexible at times, or the PL/FA would, to avoid clashing with stuff. Went to an Arsenal CL game with an Arsenal mate there, it was brilliant.

How is it they can get the Government and London council on their side to CPO land and we are stuck with a church in the corner, a few houses in Bullens road and a school.

There are quite a few options. I have a feeling we may offer the developers of Upton Park a few quid to delay their build & play there for a season (1st season at the OS for WHU). Would be wierd for the Hammers to attend as away fans!

Because Spurs are the only people ever likely to put any money of consequence into the area.

Fair enough. I dont recall there being a seven year delay though.

TBH I would much rather we didnt evict a school, some people from the homes they own and a church in order to make more money with which to try and "compete" with clubs owned by people of obscene wealth.
