He might have a gentleman's agreement with Levy to leave in this window but that doesn't mean we have to sell him at City's valuation. We sell him at ours. Up to City of they want to pay it.

Fully agree. But surely the gentlemans agreement was based on a figure. Kane cant expect Spurs to let him go for £80m but Spurs cant start outpricing him at ridiculous figures either.

Either way we have seen with teams before, it makes no sense keeping a player when they do that. Better to get a good fee and move on.

One season wonder, flat track bully and cheat.
City are welcome to him for £150mn. He is no Dane Scarlett.
Unless he stays and then all is forgiven.
Why do you always repeat this line when no-one has expressed this sentiment in about 6 years? As if people still call him that?

The moral of the story here is that players and greedy agents shouldnt be signing long term deals then a year or two in start crying that they want off. Quick enough to take the bumper pay rise knowing they can just kick off if a club comes in for them later on and get the move.

Players need to start negotiating release clauses. They get a pay rise, the club tie the player down and they both know how much it takes to sell. Takes away a lot of the issues

You could turn that a bit on its head and say in this instance both parties get something out of the new deal. Spurs don’t get to see an asset reduce to zero as he runs down his contract and as a “reward” for signing the player gets a pay rise for the intervening period he remains at the club. The issue in this case appears to be how the player is released from this contract further down the line. As others have said it should have been covered in the new contract rather than through this supposed “gentleman’s agreement”.

To Spuds he is worth a world record fee and too City, if they get him, they get England's captain, Prems best attacker, top goalscorer & assister, basically giving them the league for the next few seasons & weakening another team

If Grealish is going for £100mil & Ben White £50mil he is worth more than them 2 combined

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Doesnt work like that does it?

Like, £150m is an insane amount of money for a footballer anyrate, but putting that to one side, is his contribution to Spurs between now and the end of his contract, tangibly worth £150m? Maybe, but thats the calculation.

Personally, I think Spurs would be nuts to not take the cash; upfront. And this time, spend it well. But I am not a Spurs fan, so have no skin in the game.

Kane will be a City player days or hours before window ends, Levy likes that brinkmanship.

It adds to the aura that he's difficult to deal with, he think he's the football version of Gordon Gekko.

Kane doesn't seem the type to just not turn up. Deal must be done behind the scenes - is it definitely City? See him as a way better fit for United myself - they'd win the league with him up top.
