Drive-by yoghurt attack on crochet teacher's haberdashery leaves her shaken

The hunt is on for a yoghurt throwing convertible driver after two drive-by dairy attacks in Dorset.
One Sherborne business owner has been left "shaken" following an unprovoked street attack with a carton of yoghurt as she prepared for a crochet workshop.
Alison Nurton, founder of the Sherborne haberdashery Butterfly Bright, was arriving at her new premises on Cheap Street to teach a crochet workshop at around 7.05pm on Wednesday, January 20, when a yoghurt was thrown at her and the entrance to the shop.
She said: "As I was unlocking the door I heard a loud bang and felt something splatter in front of me, I thought it was an egg at first and then I saw the broken yoghurt pot on the floor and realised that I was covered in yoghurt. It was all over the door, pavement and wall of the shop entrance as well.
"I turned around to see a convertible car with its roof down disappearing off down Cheap Street, I wasn't able to get the registration as I was in such shock.
"Two young boys were walking up the road and heard me calling out after the car and realising I was in some distress stopped to ask if I was alright and if they could help at all but all I wanted to do was to get inside and lock the door behind me.
"I was very shaken and angry as it was dark and the whole incident was frightening and quite upsetting.
"It seems it wasn't an isolated incident as another yoghurt pot was seen on the pavement outside the Crown Pub on the A30 the same night.
"I just hope someone more frail than me was not left in a worse state than I was after such an unnecessary and childish prank."
The two boys who stopped to help are believed to be pupils of Sherborne School.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said she was unable to comment on the incident at this time

Gatwick Airport bosses warned that second runway could upset anicent Greek god

UNUSUAL BELIEFS: Keith Hagenbach has warned Gatwick Airport about building a second runway

GATWICK Airport bosses have been warned by a Sussex author that if they are given permission to build a second runway they risk angering an ancient Greek god unless they do it in the right way.
Keith Hagenbach believes a “ritual space” should be set aside at the UK's second busiest airport, in the event a new runway is built, to appease Pan, known as the god of the wild in Greek mythology, and to appease the “spirit gods in general”.
The unusual warning also comes with a recommendation that druids be drafted in to help create the ritual space due to their “deep connection” with the Earth.
Mr Hagenbach said any further building at Gatwick should take into account that the Earth is “alive”.
He said: “Building a new runway at Gatwick would need to be done in a way that is respectful to the spirit of the planet.
“Because of all the concrete going down, an area could perhaps be created that is dedicated to the god Pan and then a small yearly ritual (could take place) to thank them (the planet and the gods) for their co-operation.
“I know it sounds weird but there is more to the world (than we realise).”
While campaigners have long called for the environmental impact of a second runway to be properly considered, this is the first time a Greek god has come into the argument.
Mr Hagenbach, who lives in Forest Row, East Sussex, said that if the development goes ahead, chief druid Philip Car-Gomm, who lives in Lewes, would be the best person to oversee the ritual space.
Druids believe in communication with the natural world.
“I know Philip personally,” Mr Hagenbach said. “The druids have a deep connection to the planet and would be right people to work with Gatwick.”
Mr Hagenbach is a registered psychotherapist and attributes his beliefs to a “mid-life crisis” in his 40s.
The 71-year-old spent more than four years researching a book which will be released on January 29, and is based on a further 20 years of research by co-author and former Forest Row resident Haraldur Erlendsson.
The novel explores theories around “Gaia”, the Greek word for Earth which is used by people these days when discussing the possibility the Earth is a conscious entity.
He said: “If we knew for certain that the Earth had a consciousness I’m sure we would treat it rather differently.
“We have a tendency to use it as a resource but actually it is very important to respect it.
“I had a bit of a mid-life crisis in my 40s and I am now more open to the idea of a non-material or non-physical world.
“Harald showed me his research, and the more I read it the more I thought it made sense.”
The Man Who Drew Triangles: Magician, Mystic or Out of His Mind? follows a young Icelandic man who comes to England and is thought to be mad but is actually having a spiritual experience.
Much of the book is set in East Grinstead and Forest Row.

The management at Gatwick Airport were invited to comment, but had not responded as the Crawley News went to press.

I've noticed that Druids are rarely called Smith or Jones.

Seems like a ‘Cock & Bull’ story to me

Nearly $50,000 In Bull Semen Stolen From Turlock Truck

January 22, 2016 10:36 PM

TURLOCK (CBS13) — Tanks filled with thousands of dollars worth of bull semen were stolen out of a truck in Turlock, and it could cause trouble in the wrong hands.
The bulls are the cream of the crop and have been selected for their genetic value.
“The genetics that these Bulls have in them is out of the top 1 percent of the world population,” said farm owner John Azevedo.
The bulls’ highly valued semen is collected two to three times a week and shipped to farms in California and across the world for the purpose of impregnating cattle.
“Over 70 to 75 percent of all cattle in the U.S. is inseminated artificially,” he said.
Turlock resident Anthony Reis spent months of his time and labor collecting top of the line bull semen for distribution only to half it stolen.
“You get to your first dairy and you’re missing half your inventory,” he said.
Three tanks and a transfer tank with nearly 3,500 units of sperm were stolen from the back of his work truck late Sunday night, enough to potentially impregnate more than 1,000 cattle.
“You’re trying to make a living — the loss of all those units of semen, and probably taken by someone who had no idea what they were stealing, is very frustrating,” he said.
The semen was worth nearly $50,000, with one of the bulls being the fifth best in the world now.
“To have a bull that’s that high in the list and to have that seen stolen from an allocated bull that’s hard to replace,” he said.
The tanks that store the semen are filled with liquid nitrogen. At about -320 degrees fahrenheit to keep the sperm frozen, they need to be handled by professionals. Otherwise, it can be dangerous.
Reis also says the thieves stole gas out of his truck and most likely have no clue what else they took.
“To have someone just come and take your livelihood is very frustrating,” he said.

That last line is a killer!

Thieves get the bad oil from bus sewage tank

Would-be thieves accessed the bus’ waste tank instead of the one containing fuel.

Opportunistic petrol thieves may have lost their appetite for crime after seemingly copping a taste of raw sewage in a botched siphoning attempt.
Laverton Police Sen. Sgt Heath Soutar said a visiting tour bus fell victim to an attempted theft last week.
Sen. Sgt Soutar said it appeared the would-be thief or thieves tried to siphon fuel from the parked bus during the night.
However, they got a bit more than they bargained for when they accidentally accessed the bus’ waste tank instead of the one containing fuel.
Sen. Sgt Soutar said the discarded cap and lack of fuel stolen suggested they had failed to get away with what they were hoping to steal.
“We can infer they beat a very hasty retreat, with a somewhat bitter taste in their mouth, ” he said.
Sen. Sgt Soutar said that while Laverton Police were looking for the offenders, police officers “have absolutely zero interest” in tracking down the stolen goods.
He did however say officers were hoping “word of mouth” would help crack the case.
