Squad Depth

That Walcott deal has got to be one of the worst. Paying Southampton 50k a week to deplete our squad of a right sided forward and having no worthwhile replacement. He already has one assist in three games for them, and his Everton record absolutely hammers whoever it is that has supposed to have become his replacement as a substitute.

Iwobi has one assist in one game. Do the maths. We paid soton to take him because he’s awful and no one would buy him

Iwobi hasn't just played one game. His Everton record remains worse than Walcott's. He's worse than Walcott imo. He couldn't even make the starting 11 today.

Regardless, even if a player that can't even make today's awful first 11 (Iwobi) was supposedly better than Walcott (he isn't), then paying Southampton 50k a week to deplete our squad is still a bloody awful deal.

That's the Southampton that beat us effortlessly the other week, and are on the same points as us.

We are a few windows away, but I hope this winter we make a couple of moves

Right now there is a huge drop off between the following players and their replacement

DCL has no back up really
Richarlison: Drop off between Richy and Iwobi is laughable
James...really, no one can do what he does for us
Digne: Nkounkou is a good prospect, but Digne is simply world class
Coleman: The old man is far ahead of Kenny and does well covering for James and overlapping him.

Then there is the need for an actual 8. Isco would be cheap. No brainer there.

So I say priorities
1. Sign isco. Price will be low and he can play as an 8 and also replace James when needed.
2. Sign a winger: A talented winger that can start on the right if we wanna switch things up and/or replace Richy if he misses time.
3. A back up right back. Coleman is getting old. We need a good back up there.

2 out of the 3 in this window would be nice.

Please. I'm more optimistic than a lot because I believe our starting 11 can compete with anyone, but it gets ugly beyond that.

If we don't improve quickly our best players will leave

We dont have time for long term rebuilds. We will be left behind and the top teams will be much stronger.

We shouldn't be leaving business for January windows either. It shows disorganisation and desperation. There was no need to have Tosun as sub centre forward.

Him on the right an iwobi on the left (not great( but would have giving us a much better chance today

What's our financial situation?

The pandemic is causing a lot of financial problems for many teams across Europe. I think there will be many players up for the taking if we have money to invest.

DCL will be goosed by January having played every game in the first half of the season and that'll cost us too. Great forward planning Everton.

By my reckoning Carlo first 11 is
Pickford
Coleman Keane Holgate Digne
Doucoure Allan Gomes
James Calvert-Lewin Richarlison

The back up 11 is
Olsen
Kenny Mina Godfrey Nkounkou
Sigurdsson Gbamin Delph
Bernard Tosun Iwobi

Any 2 of them stepping up isn't a problem as most of them aren't much of a drop the problem we had is we had to have 5 step up which means half the team was at a lower level.Obviously we swapped keepers as well. Not only did we have 5 players that weren't regulars playing but we also had a different system and players playing unfamiliar positions. Hopefully next week we will have Digne and hopefully James and Coleman back so we will be down to just 2 players from our best. Richarlison will be a big miss but a fully functioning right side might just make up for it.

Squad depth vs squad gulf.

Feel like with the quality of new recruits, we fall into the latter category
