Star Wars - Episode VII

They're making an effort to avoid showing much of Luke because trying to find him is a major plotline in the film. That's one of the very few things that's been said almost from day one. Luke (for reasons nobody knows yet) hasn't been seen by anyone for years, and they're trying to find him for help with whatever the new big horrible thing is.

I'm in the camp that thinks turning Luke to the dark side would effectively negate the entire original trilogy. I can't see Disney going there, considering they paid 4 billion dollars for the franchise with the intention of making a new Star Wars related movie every year for the foreseeable future.

Two things

First of all check out red letter media on youtube for their how it should have been videos on the first two films. Their version of the story is much better!

Also theory starting to build the bad guy or bad guy in some respect will be.......luke skywalker. Nothing confirmed but apparently JJ abrahms in an interview 10 years ago thought luke should have went to the dark side. SO take that as you will

Luke "kill the Jews" Skywalker?

why isn't Ken Rilo called Darth anyway, I thought they were all Darths

According to an interview JJ Abrams did (I think maybe with Entertainment Weekly, but could be wrong), Kylo Ren isn't a Sith. This actually makes sense if the "there are always two Sith" bit is something they're sticking with. After all, one Sith killed the other at the end of Jedi, then promptly died himself.

Anyway, according to JJ he belongs to an order called the "Knights of Ren," so Ren is a title similar to Darth as opposed to his surname.

I have heard similar to this, my understanding is that Luke is in a remote part of the Galaxy, guarding some important artefacts that the Knights of Ren are searching for.

The theory I've heard banded about quite a bit is that due to The Force being somewhat dormant ("The stories...it's all true" - hence Awakens), Luke has gone into 'hibernation' (much like Yoda in the originals). Kylo Ren either wants to kill or convert him to the Dark Side ("I will finish what you started"), and something about Luke's lightsaber that he lost being the one that the stormtrooper who converts has I think.

This also works with the prequels, since Mace Windu makes a comment at one point about how the Jedi have seen their ability to use the force diminishing. It could be that the force went through a period of decline, and suddenly has come roaring back - meaning that someone like Luke would find himself in command of unbelievable power. Could very well explain why he decided to just go away and hide.

I mean, if tiny, elderly, "hasn't done this in decades" Yoda could lift a spacecraft out of a swamp without a second thought in a weakened state, what could a Jedi do if they had full access to all the things they used to?

This actually also helps to explain why Kylo Ren's lightsaber looks so crap. He never had any proper training in how to make one, so it's a DIY job. I think the poster actually reinforces this, since the blue lightsaber Finn is holding looks like a proper one.
