Welcome THRF and please feel free to contribute regularly.

As for Hunt. I think the initial post said it best. "Good squad player."

Great for a squad like ours who needs depth with all the competitions we're in. However I think we need another "Arteta type" midfielder who's more centrally located.

Hunt has been Reading's best player this season. Has adequate pace and good first touch. Very energetic and will give everything to the cause but I have to agree with Fozastuta and say that a dominant central midfielder like Albelda or Appiah should be our main priority in the transfer window

Welcome to the board mate (y)

Thnaks for the welcome boys, this is my first time venturing into the weird and wonderful world of football forums. Regarding Kissock Bruce, I think that he seems too lightweight for the premier league and lacks any physical presence. From clips of reserve matches he seems to have agood first touch and seems a player in a similar mould to Osman

Hes all abbout guts, heart, running with a wee bit of quality he has some engine, id like to see him come as he would add something different! Ive seen alot of him play for Ireland and hes becoming something of a cult figure for us! When the Robbie Keanes and Duffs werent getting stuck in Hunt would come on and mix it no matter who they were Hes hard as nails for a winger! Hes the one that did cech last year!

An 80 mins against Chelsea kinda layer! can i bang the Micheal Kightley at wolves drum again too!

He's one of my favorite players to watch in the prem. He's always in the middle of everything can score goals and I also think his crosses are very good. He just signed a new contract last year though, and is Reading's best player. For the life of me, I can't see why they would want to get rid of him. Maybe they want to go back to the Championship?

Will probably fit right in at Everton.

But did anyone see him being interviewed on MOTD?

He looked like a reject from Dexy's Midnight Runners. Bit weird.

Good player, but is he that much better than what we already have?

Tell you what, for pace he is much faster than Hibbert and Neville, so if you ask me overall is he better than RB we have the answer is yes, he is plus to our squad!

especially when Pienaar goes off we would lack pace on one side, it was clearly the problem today when Arteta is out and Osman not available for selection!

is pienaar is a left sided midfielder
i no he plays there a lot for us but is he left footed ?
and does it come down to hunt or pienaar ?

people says he plays RB for Reading, so it doesn't effect Pienaar as a midfielder but I think he is Right footed, that's why we have to seek another natural left footed on ML, both Baines and Valente is left footed!

Just seen this......

Stephen Hunt has refused to dismiss speculation linking him with a January move away from Reading.

The Royals midfielder has attracted the interest of Everton and the player is keeping an open mind regarding his future as he looks to prolong his stay in the Premier League.

The Republic of Ireland international only signed a new three-year contract at the Madejski during the summer, but with David Moyes reportedly preparing a £3million bid Hunt may not be around to see it out.

Ambition

"My ambition is to play as many games as I can in the Premier League," he said.

"I haven't been long here. But at the same time you have to be positive and make the right decisions.

"January is always the time for speculation, and you have to deal with it. You never know what's around the corner. Could something happen? I don't know.

"It's up to the clubs to get a bid accepted. But at the moment, I'm happy here. We'll see what happens."

Reputation

Hunt has built up a reputation for being a troublemaker in his short time at Reading, and got caught up in another argument during the Boxing Day draw with West Ham. However, he feels that he has been unfairly labelled and that the booking he picked up against the Hammers was extremely harsh.

"What was I booked for?" he asked.

"An overreaction by the keeper (Robert Green). It was harsh on me, and I'm getting fed up with it. But what can I do? I'm in a situation where my reputation goes against me.

"You can't blame me because the way the keeper reacted was not right. He's a liar if he thinks I said something behind his back.

"He shouldn't have come off his line. He gave a goal away like that last week against Everton in the Carling Cup. He should look closer to home."

A bit tight lipet hey??
