I think people have over hyped him, some even at points during the summer saying he discovered the Italian international striker Zola who was in his late twenties.

Here he is, a man who in June was assistant manager and head of recruitment to the league champions and about to assist a team in the pinnacle of European football as a top seed signs a new contract with said team.

We've dropped our kecks and doubled his wages. Money is the only reason he left Leicester, let's be honest here.

Same with Koeman.

The January window won't make a bit of difference to our season. If you are relying on that to be an argument against our season being over then I think you are clutching at straws.

I don't think our season is over because I don't think it's a foregone conclusion we won't do well against the top teams. Our strong defense and Rom means we should nick a few points over that time.

Eh?

What the hell are you on about?

2 or 3 quality additions (the example I used is 2011/12 where our season totally changed thanks to a good window) would definitely make a difference but, regardless whether they happen or not, the fact that anybody is even referencing our season been over after 7 games shows the idiocy of some people on here.

It's a 38 game season and we're not even a third into it. So far, so good, though we've had a little hitch over the last few days.

Little hitch?

- Out of the cup at home to lower league opposition at first stage
- Lost an easily winnable away game against a poo side
- Drawn and were arguably lucky to take a point at home against a side who will finish bottom half

I'd say it's been an absolutely diabolical week. When we have no European competition to focus on, you'd think the manager would go all out for the domestic cups, so going out against Norwich was an absolute sickener.

We have tough games coming up and if we can't take maximum points from games vs Bournemouth and Palace, God help us when we actually play teams that have more than 2 decent players in their starting XI.

Clutching at straws doesn't mean there's no chance it would happen. It just means it's highly unlikely and I never said our season was over.

I know you didn't say our season was over, I just meant that the fact that you or I or anybody else was even having to say that it isn't is a sad indictment.

On your first point though, I don't think it's clutching at straws to think that a few quality additions are possible - based on the business we did do in the summer and the targets we missed out on, plus what has been said by Walsh in recent days. In fact it's very plausible.

My point is even if we get one or two I doubt it will change our season. Players take time to bed in and rarely do teams get a Jelavic boost.

Look at Utd when they got Mata under Moyes. It barely made any difference at all.

That's a lot of unlikely things that have to happen which makes it even more unlikely to make a difference in the end.

I personally thought it was a fantastic article and was surprised to hear he basically gave the go ahead to about 90% of the signings Leicester done. Obviously everyone goes on about the likes of Mahrez, Vardy, Kante but he goes on about Simpson, Huth, Morgan, Drinkwater, Albrighton. All names we had all heard of bit would have turned our nose up at all of them. So it's not about finding gems but also finding players who may have lost their way or whose career has hit a roadblock.

I agree on that mate.

Sorry for taking your point wrong. However, there is every potential we could get some quality in - albeit there's every possibility we may not do or, as you say, they may not have an effect.

Similarly though, I don't think any new signings would have stopped us conceding the goals we have in the last few games.

Our defense isn't the problem. Oviedo had a good game and Coleman can't be blamed for Benteke's header. All teams concede goals. Our problem is we aren't scoring enough at the other end.

Totally agree, someone put a stat up the other day saying something along the lines of us only having one shot on target against us in each of the last 5 games or something ridiculous. Can't ask for much more from your defenders than that. We're really struggling to create clear cut chances though, and when we do the finishing from everybody but Lukaku has been substandard.

Yep - and for the stick he gets Bolasie has created at least one clear-cut (as in, sitter) chance per-game. Other players certainly not stepping up to the mark in recent weeks.
