January will be really interesting.
The summer was difficult for both Koeman and Walsh. They had just moved to a new club, needed to assess the squad and the academy players. They tried to sign some high profile players but failed to do so.
They have now been in the job for half a year, the players have been seen in competition and they should know by now the players they want and the type of player they want. Even the Bolasie injury, as unfortunate as it was, has given them a few weeks to consider a replacement for him.
The January window is difficult, but then that is where Steve Walsh should really earn his salary.
Isn't DoF really just the chief chief scout? I reckon it is a just a title that allows the holder to pull in more wages!I said when you took him as DOF it was strange. Would be much more productive as chief scout. Hope he comes good for you
I dunno, maybe you're right. I always thought they delegate more to the other scouts and work primarily on getting deals completed. As I say I could be wrongIsn't DoF really just the chief chief scout? I reckon it is a just a title that allows the holder to pull in more wages!
You are probably right mate, I know squat about these new roles, I am still trying to get my head around what a false number nine is???I dunno, maybe you're right. I as well thought they delegate more to the other scouts and work primarily on getting deals completed. As I say I could be wrong
Depends I guess. On the continent they're responsible for hiring the head coach as well as signing players. I guess they have overall responsibility for the youth side too and ensuring everything fits together, avoiding the kind of upheaval you get if you just have a normal manager who then leaves and the next one has a completely different way of working.Isn't DoF really just the chief chief scout? The point i was making mate, was that the poor recruitment of Niasse and a general suspicion that something wasnt right in the deal, prompted the club/Mosh to appoint a director of football for good corporate governance, transparency and not making recruitment a unilateral process.
I think you got the wrong end of the stick, or rather my post in poorly worded.
By general suspicion, do you mean Dave's attempts to deflect blame from Martinez? Or were there things outside the forum mentioned?
So Schneiderlin, Depay and Fonte.
Very shrewd Steve.
