...absolutely. I think analytics plays a great part in identification of players these day. Statistics highlighting interceptions, accuracy of passes etc inform who to eyeball.

I remember Moyes saying he and Kenwright went to a midweek Millwall game to watch somebody else. They were in the middle of gangs fighting but still noticed a bloke called Cahill. The rest is history. As you say, that will happen less and less.

Yeah, but Walsh is probably doing his analytics with Championship Manager

same happened with Walsh when he or the scout he sent to watch a player who didn't end up- playing and they saw Mahrez instead

If Tosun doesn't prove his worth before season end then Walsh's position as DOF is untenable. The whole model is failing as we're back to the manager picks one then Walsh picks one etc recruitment that led to such an unbalanced disaster last summer.
Walcott is Sam's and Tosun Walsh's (Palace bid for Tosun after Allardyce departed). That's crystal clear and now Sam has dropped the circa £25m striker after 2 games. Walsh's picks are poor or aren't being given enough time by whatever under pressure manager is in situ. Either way this can't go on. Moshiri must act soon.

Hopefully the whole raggle taggle bunch of em will be booted out of the door the moment the ref brings the season to an end at West Ham. Then we can start again with an experienced DoF and a competent coach.

I would like to think that his job must surely be hanging by a thread, but given our history and the amateur clowns we have running us, he’s probably got a job for life.
