Steven Appiah...like to see this player?

Player Valuation: £35m
there's a fair few people who'd like to see this player at Goodison. He's a more finished article of what Manny could have offered us. A box to box midfielder, that scores goals, can defend and tackle and set up plays as well.

I think he fancied a move to the prem as well. Doubt he'd come cheap.

your thoughts?

is he available?

considering the premiership is meant to be the best and richest league in the world we seem to be having big problems persuading better than average players to join us. we finished 6th last year and are in the uefa!!

i just get the impression if we were in a bidding war for a player like appiah with teams from italy or even turkey we would lose.

he played in Italy and left as he wasn't getting enough first team footy if memory serves me right. I think he fancies a move to england, if reports are correct.

Our biggest challenge would be fighting off the inevitable bids from Spurs (they buy eight midfielders every transfer window), Newcastle (ditto) and West Ham (their wage structure consists of agreeing to any fanciful agents demands at the drop of a hat).

I think we'd be looking at 6-8 million for him - we could always get him in installments or on a everton credit card or something.

He's the only player that would help me get over the fernandes betrayal.

Yeah, Appiah definitely ticks all the boxes for me as usual Leon I find myself agreeing with you, totally spot on about Appiah the complete opposite to fernandes leaving Italian giants for regular first team football we should strive to land this player he ticks all of the boxes.....Tenacious, Driven, Focused, Screaming shot. Absolutely 100% behind any move to buy Appiah.

He's also the type of player to get his foot on the ball and dictate the play.

Yeh as Ive stated before the more I talk about Appiah the more I would really love to see him in the blue shirt. He has got it all- hes strong, can pass, can tackle and can find the back of the net- and hes only 26!

A midfield that could consist of:

arteta---Jags---Appiah---Pienaar

Looks good to me ;)

yeah, we've needed someone to play the ball on the deck and control the flow of the game. Arteta, Appiah and Cahill in midfield - that's a dynamic midfield that would cause any team in the world problems.

we could start saying goodbye to this endless head tennis nonsense that always seems to rear its ugly head.

Or:

the midfield diamond

---------Jags--------
--Arteta------Appiah----
---------Cahill--------

Moyes seemingly will never play a midfield without a holding player protecting the back four. It's his signature. A problem that everton has, disregarding the somewhat shocking distribution from the full backs and back four in general, is the distribution from the holding player.

Cars is great a stopping moves developing and tacking players etc. He just doesn't distribute well. It would take some of the goal threat away but you could play.

Neville - Yobo - Lescott- Baines
-----------Appiah-----------
Arteta- ------Cahill--------Pienaar
--------AJ---------Yakubu---------

Appiah would still score a couple of screamers a season and you'd get the ball on the ground more and better set up play.

just an idea.

I've only seen him in the world cup but he seems pretty quality. Very versatile, plays alot like his Ghana teammate, Essien though not in his class. I wonder why no one has ever tried to pry him away from Febernache.

Mick: not sure if Jags could be a full time Premeirship midfielder yet. Playing anywhere in the back he'll be fine. However he really hasn't played in the midfield full time since he was in the Championship and looked uncomfortable in the midfield against Blackburn. Hopefully in the UEFA group stages he could some exp. there.

ah well it was nice while it lasted.

we couldn't even come close to their wage offer. And besides many players are happy to sign for a club that is lower in the league and not in europe, providing players are getting more money and get to live in london.

Eh? I thought he played great against Blackburn! He was everywhere!
