I think you just have to submitt the request prior to the deadline
If the fee is agreed, the terms settled and its down to the work permit then that can be sorted after the deadline. However if the work permit is applied for straight away there is no reason he wont get it- he is after all the national captain.

What I dont get- we are all amateurs to the game, we think who could we get in to replace Manny- most of us come up with Appiah. Surely Moyes would be aware of him and others that would fit the bill, especially with the money burning a hole in his pocket.

TBH Mick I have no knowlege of Appiah's contract situation, my comment is in direct response to what the club has just experienced and the fact that if we are going to get someone in then they can't beat around the houses mate
