Martinez said it was because of the games coming up. But Naismith has shown loyalty to our club and not rocked the boat in the summer after Norwich showed an interest. I think that loyalty and professionalism should be rewarded. If he got injured before his transfer and missed out the chance to join Norwich it would be a big blow for him.

And us!

Yes we could lose out on the money and I don't think £8 mill is to be sniffed at. But sometimes loyalty, giving your all and not rocking the boat should be rewarded. Something I always admired about Moyes. As I did with Arteta who stayed and was allowed to leave when he felt we couldn't progress any further.

I understand and appreciate your sentiments. There is a point though when business sense has to take over. Looking at your post is that why these were kept on the wages bill - Hibbo, Pienaar, Gibson, Osman?

I agree business sense may have to take over. Those you mentioned have contracts until ???. and are mostly squad fillers now. A fully fit Pienaar and Ossie may have been able to do a very good job imo playing/coming on throughout last season. Hibbo signed a contract in 2014 which runs out at the end of this season. Kept for experience maybe. Gibson again squad player, with an extension until 2017, to come on a do a job. Ossie and Pienaar's contracts will probably be run down as no one would buy them.

For me the thing about the players we mention is that they would be waiting on the bench for the nod. I would like to see more of our younger players there and to get the nod, valuable experience for them instead of playing pensioners or never get better.

Which youngsters do you have in mind?

These days I do not know who is injured and who is not. What youngu'ns would you like to see be given a chance? After all they have to be given a go some time cannot wait for Ossie to hang up his boots.

Apart for the defenders most of our midfield youngsters are out on loan. I'd like to see Ledson given a good go before the end of the season. Same as Henen and Rodriquez.

There is a few chances for the likes of Ledson, Grant, Dowell seeing that Naismith is leaving, and Ossie, Pienaar are on the way out.
