He can look like a 12mill rated player one game, then a pup player the next game. Not even a good pub player....one of those 20 stone ones who carry a bag not filled with their kit, but with chocolate bars crisps and coke.

Not worth paying 12 million for at all. (n)
That's true mate and as I said in another thread, so could Kilbane

The most obvious one would of course be Ibrahim Afellay from PSV. However, it's not a position we have to fill and I think he'll be joining a proven CL club, or maybe someone like Man City.

Also Jonathan de Guzman, Georginio Wijnaldum and Luigi Bruins, all three of Feyenoord Rotterdam. Think they could be persuaded to sell de Guzman or Bruins as they have big financial difficulties. Wijnaldum, I'm afraid would be out of our price range.

Moussa Dembele and Mounir El Hamdaoui, both of AZ. Dembele is a Belgian international and a very hot pospect. Mounir El Hamdaoui can play as a left winger and has already been linked with Barcelona, although I'd take that with a pinch of salt.:D

Danjiel Pranjic (SC Heerenveen), can play in every position on the left in defence, midfield and attack.

Keisuke Honda (VVV Venlo) Dutch 1st division. Japanese international, looks like a good prospect and there's lot of interest in him. Don't know if he's ready for the PL yet, though.

Whoah nice one mate, it goes to show there is plety of quality out there if your prepared to look for it ive heard of Wijnaldum and De Guzmann werent we linked with him last season its nice to know that Moyes has an eye on this market which has proved over the years to produce players quite technically gifted.

Everything would pick up if he came to us. If Davey Moyes (and also Steve Round by the way - let's not forget how influential he has become in our style of play) reckons he's worth £12m, and gets him, he'll have him playing like a £20M player before very long. I have to agree I sometimes wondered what all the fuss was about Downing but doesn't the fact that the other major player in the transfer is Harry Redknapp tell you anything about him? Come on lads, it's not rocket science!

Oh, and by the way, notice how Boro's goals have dried up since Downing hasn't got the Yak to aim at? Don't you think the very fact that his old mucker will be on the end of his crosses might make them better? Think about that too.

Thats a good point mate, i never factored the Round influence into my thinking of wheather Downing would come to us or not.

Intrestingly we are also linked to Boros Mattew Bates today.

I like Downing, he’s a solid winger but he’s not a player I’d like to see us blow our who transfer kitty on. Where not going to have a lot so the money needs to be spent wisely. He’d cost around 12-15 million and that is a lot of money for us.

Wouldn't surprise me if we went in for Victor Obinna again, permanently. He’d give us options outwide and he can also play upfront which is useful, considering our injury proneness in that position. Not a natural winger by any means but he’s certainly got that pace we are lacking in wide positions.

I’d rather we looked abroad for creative/attacking midfielders, whether that’s a winger or central player. Your more likely to find a more gifted player in Holland thanyou are here, in terms of technical qualities they are quite a bit ahead of us at the moment. Mainly because of there academies and the way they bring players through.

Looking at an Arteta replacement, Tom Huddlestone anyone? Moyes was interested in the summer and with Spurs having Palacios, Modric, Jenas and Zokora on there books he’s out of favour. He’d probably come on the cheap and has that passing ability that we lack when Arteta is out. Still needs a lot of work (like Fellaini) but he’s got talent and he does fit the bill as someone who can fill in and compete for a position with Mikel.

Wouldnt be o my wish list mate, but hes ok, think we could do better.

Wouldn't be my first choice either but I think he's a realistic signing, Moyes was after him in the summer and he does fit the bill.

He can also play centre back, has that versatility Moyes likes.

Hed cost a bit of Wonga to didnt he sign a new contract last summer. He sits deep doesnt he in that kind of Quater back position his range is good if not inconsistent, he always struck me as a player in need of a bit of coaching in terms of his decison making and questions have been raised about his fittness, an option though all the same.

Think if i had a spar 6-8 million id go for Johnson or Manny myself.

I doubt it, Harry has Modric and Palacios now and Huddlestone has said himself his future isn't looking bright at Spurs. I don't think he'd be that expensive to be honest.

He's similar to Alonso at Liverpool, his passing is superb. He does need work in other areas though, far from the finished article.

Obviously he's just an option, a realistic one. We need to get someone in who can fill in and compete for that creative central midfield position with Arteta.

Agreed the more depth the better, with the new Europa Leauge its likely we will be playing every week twice. Should be intresting to see how Moyes sets up next season with everyone fit. Im not so sure hel fill the creative midfeild spot, i think if anything he will try and swap Castillo for Mbia, get a winger and covering left back. Just guessing like. Though id like cover for Arteta to mate.

Can we make up a list for what constitutes as snide internet site for rumours.

Like FansFc, Tribal Football, Sport.co.uk and the Daily Mail.

Its getting close to melt season and I dont think I can stand it again.

Personally I would have Huddlestone and Downing, Downing is a very good player but playing in a ****e boro side. A good old fashioned winger who can take people on, with a very good cross.

Huddlestone, another six footer (6ft3in) good range of passing and one hell of a shot, again out of favour at spurs but an U21 regular!!!!!

Would definately take Tom Huddlestone. Would be a very good signing by Moyes. Not sure, what transferfee we'd be looking at. i know he doen't get a sniff in at Spurs at the moment, but he's still an English youth international. At around 6-8 million pound I'd definately have a look at that option.

Downing is never going to get better than he is at the moment. Is that really the level we want to be at? Huggles I could handle as backup, at least he's good at something.
