It struck me recently that people in the present day put up with stuff and just carry on unquestioningly going along with it. Often it's for no tangible reason other than somebody or an institution wanting money or time off you for very, very, very little in return - certainly nothing material. Clearly a United mindset would stop these things pretty quickly (like the French often show).

Im thinking - whatvwould go away if we simply stopped going along with them. Things like:

  • Paying for channels with advertising (I would personally even put watching channels with adverts ... but I realise I'm an extremist here ... then again I value my time)
  • Paying for parking
  • Paying to drive into town centres
  • Clicking on jarg news stories/ clickbait
  • Buying "news" papers
  • Paying to pee in some town centres while rolling over and accepting snowflake opinions who tell us its unacceptable to pee into letterboxes free of charge.

What else do we accept without question or benefit?

(Yeah OK... threads like these)

Interesting one this, I'm not aware there is a charge although I'm not across every aspect of the UK's public urination legislative framework. You would run a significant of eventually getting your head kicked in. Or arrested.

Happy to see the debate opened up though.

Some public loos have turnstiles on them. Especially in train stations. 20p for a piss ffs.

It's where the phrase "spend a penny' comes from, as a euphemism fir having a pee. From the days where a pee could be had for 1p. Of course today, 20p seems the going rate fir a council bog ... an encouragement not to be spoil the town. Even seen £1 creeping in here and there ... and it will persist if people pay it.

In a Swiss service stop some years back I was confronted with a €1 slot fir a pee. "Bugger that" I thought and found a spot under a bridge, where there were another 10-15 men at various stages of bladder emptying. I felt a surge and a tear of pride.

It was more the letterbox option I was thinking about - potentially cheaper but not without consequence!

And yeah, Europe can be crazy expensive as I found out in France recently. Although I didn't have to put up with the fetid hellscape I faced at Frankley services last night.
