He get a bad press on here, not through ability in my opinion, more through him not being available through injury and his unavailability to the squad over a long period. He is not a play maker though.

He runs around a lot and that's about it, and he can't even do that anymore without picking up an injury. No quality on the ball and a traitor to his country

McCarthy is absolutely rubbish and would be very high on my list of players to sell if he could keep himself fit enough for anyone to have any interest in him. He has virtually no footballing ability at all, but occasionally comes into a lethargic team and everyone thinks he’s boss because he runs more than the others and maybe even makes some absolutely ridiculous slide tackles which get him booked and could get him sent off but PASSION yurrrrs.

I see it more like that, Siggy as the deep lying play maker, Keane in for Holgate and i think Baines could still be first choice. Still think we are weak in central midfield and could do with a deep lying play-maker or no 8.
