Summer 2018 Transfer Window

The last two seasons Unsworth has often acted on his own for U23s transfers and has/had his own scouting team e.g. DCL, Bassala Sambou. Walsh had a hand in others e.g. Lookman, Onyekuru. I wonder if Brands has changed things , and there are certainly gaps at U23s level that we would normally fill by transfers in the past e.g. we don’t have a nutural right back at U23s.
It would certainly make sense. The purpose of the U23s should be to allow players with potential to transition into the first team, signing players to the U23s to solely play there is folly.

Malcolm's Guaranteed Transfer Rumblings Update #17

Richarlison -- I find his name confusing and am not a huge fan of some of his hairstyles, but overall very good business on this one
Digne -- I like this kid a lot and look forward to him being a fixture in the XI very soon

Yerry Mina -- apart from having a great name and loads of "measurables," this one is a high risk/high reward player that Brands and Silva obviously like. His crazy/uncle agent issue foreshadows future issues. Worst case, he's a terrible transfer and a head case that needs to get booted in 3 windows; best case, he's a terrific talent and moves on within 3 years. I don't really see him being a long-term fixture at Goodison, and either way I think he'll be replaced before we open Bramley Moore

Marcus Rojo -- it's simply a no from me

Kurt Zouma -- I'd be ok with this one, even if on loan. No telling how he recovers from his ACL, but he's a year further in rehab and I think he's a talented player and can do well in the side. I can't tell whether he fits a backline of 2/3 CBs, but given what we have a the moment, unless there are better choices on the table, he's not a bad option

Reece Oxfam -- get in lads for cheap and see what they can do, I'm ok with this but I doubt he'd be near the first team until March or so; worth a punt though

NE Other -- I'm actually quite crap at all of this transfer prognostication, but we need to see a new CB pronto, so do something Marcel, FFS!

Pedro Delgado -- no clue who this is but sounds like a boss FIFA/FM guy, so I'm all in

stay tuned for update #18

GR: "While there has been a lot of speculation about Badou Ndiaye and Jack Butland I hope they can see what we are trying to do and see their potential here."

Sounds like he wants to keep Badou. If we're totally keen obviously we'll still get him like.

No it doesn't mate. Original post said Everton and Lyon have bid 30m. Man Utd haven't bid anything. Barca want 40m.

My post is saying Utd haven't bid because Mina is low down on their shopping list and will probably only commit once they know the others are off the list. I also said Barca will probably have to drop their asking price if they want to sell before the window shuts.

How is any of that contradicting the original post?
Because the post you quoted said he had agreed terms with us Man Utd and Lyon, but Barca were the hold up, your post said the player was the hold up because he was holding out for Man Utd.

Unless I have misinterpreted one of the posts

I don't want to speak for him but I think what @Barnfred 55 means (because it's what I think too) is that the player could move to us or Lyon now because we've made bids to Barcelona, but he knows United are interested, and he wants to go there, so he's waiting to see if they make a formal bid before he commits. Chances are that all the clubs involved are aware of the situation and so aren't making the player rush his decision.

Swerve this mercenary....he's not the only one of course....
