Loved that “bid” a player with the ability to have a price that that looks as if we are trying to splash the new cash but also a player unknown to enough fans to not seem a totally outrageous player to be trying to sign.

We could or we could try and sign somebody much better like Mata perhaps or just put 2 fast intelligent players either side of Siggy with a decent CF up top

Mata is better than Shaqiri but he'd cost us most of our transfer budget and it's highly unlikely to happen. Siggy ain't all that at number 10, he's quite poor tbh, worse than Shaqiri.
Mata would not be expensive due to his age and the fact Jose doesn’t rate him due to his lack of defensive nous.
Siggy is a far better player than Shaquiri due to his consistency at No 10.
Put the right players around him and he will excel

Mata would still be expensive, you are deluding yourself if you think otherwise. Siggy is poor enough on the left, but he's even worse as a 10. Shaqiri will prove excellent value for money and actually bring some much needed creativity to the team.

Rashford is likely to go out on loan, Everton being probably the best team he can get into outside the top 4.

That's the goals sorted, then concentrate on building up a midfield and defence.
Can we not sign players as slow as sand in Mata unless they’re younger and incredible - ergo wouldn’t come here.

Mata wouldn’t sign when our squad was better and our stock was higher, he would be mad to even consider us. I think it will be tough to get any proven player from a club above us, I can see more younger unknowns coming in, and hoping that we unearth a gem. The likes of Rashford, Mata etc would be mad to come here.
