Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Not open for further replies.
Whilst I agree that there has to be a clear out of the deadwood, and there will be, the way the transfer window is structured this year just makes everything a bit more difficult.

If the players have to go BEFORE new players are signed the window is about face for our requirements, closing much earlier than usual (with a world cup taking up 4(?) weeks) and then another couple of months where sales (outside the PL) are allowed.

Need Moshiri to front the cash on the basis the sales will follow to ensure we get the players we want imo. Hopefully his statement about there being no money worries under him prove to be true.

Their backgrounds aren't similar at all career wise, classie was a toured prospect who by the time he came England was regarded as a busted prospect, think he'd even lost his place at Ajax for a couple of seasons as a starter, Klassen captained them to several league titles and a European final as a lynchpin of the side.

One went to Belgium as the only interest, the other had Napoli wanting him last January.
I think you might be confusing Clasie with someone else. He was at Feyenoord, not Ajax, was only 22 when he went to Southampton, and was very much a regular for them up to the point he left.

Also slightly overstating Klaassen's role, he didn't captain them to any trophies at all.

Ah, it is CFrandelino, a seasoned Weasel Watcher and also a man who can tell a Mustela from Mustela putorius furo

Welcome to another summer.

We will remain vigilant but also take our Weasel points if we over step the line.

It’s a noble cause and one we must take seriously from window to window, pod to pod.

Good morning mein frandels and welcome to the introduction of the Weasel Index for the summer of 2018.

A small tribute to @Sapie88 - without him, we are short a few Weasel pictures.

If you are new to GrandOldTeam.com , welcome, make yourself at home, and why not learn about the origins of the Index here : https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/summer-transfer-window-2017.94428/page-2560#post-5622816

Over the last few days, the rumbles under the turf have become louder. Was it Marcel Brands and his smart-casual jackets that stirred them? Was it the bloodletting on the Finch Farm lawn led by hatchet-lady-in-chief Denise filtering down into the warrens (is this right, do Weasels live in warrens?) ?

We do not know.

But last night, this happened.

It even has MASSIVE BREAKING NEWS in huge capitals. The Weasels are back.

We are therefore compelled to begin our - and I say our, because it is a Weasel Hunter Collective, in this Fourth Era of Frandliness - Weasel Index for the Summer.

I for one am expecting lots of OUTs, and perhaps not a lot of INs.

Please remember the standard Weasel Marking technique:

  • Spot a majestic / disgusting example of utter Transfer Weaseling
  • Write '@orly' as a reply
  • Await the Index marking and then public listing the following week
There is nothing worse than missing a weasel in the wild. The Weasel Hunter Collective is remarkably efficient, but if even one gets away, they may breed uncontrollably, leading to infestation. Therefore may I also suggest that you tag in fellow Index enthusiast @CairnsToffee too when tagging your weasel spot?

Mr @CairnsToffee was always the ideal candidate for Assistant Index Curator.

Dangers in the Weasel Habitat:

The Ferrets

Ferrets are not to be confused with Weasels. These individuals will deliberately seek to be Indexed with utterly manufactured rumours designed solely to dilute the scientific credibility of the Index. When in doubt, tag them, but with caution. Curator discretion will then be exercised.

The Elk

The Elk is a hideous roaming creature that lurks on the edges of the GrandOldTeam.com habitat, obsessed with numbers and living in 'pods' with other invertebrates. It has (unsuccessfully) tried to have the funding for the Index taken away and keeps trying to reintroduce the 'Lickspittle Weasel' Genus Lickspittlus Myersa variant back into the breeding pool . If seen, crush immediately.

External factors

There are certainly examples of the Weasel on other social media platforms. However the Index will not be recording these, and we ask that individuals are not pursued for their rumours. We know there are serial offenders, but until they emerge from a hole in the GrandOldTeam.com lawn, they do not count.

@themole10 award for Excellent Transfer ITKness

960x0.jpg

The above is a mole. It also lives in a hole.

The Mole List is for examples of excellent Transfer Weaseling, for those who deliver, like @Joey66 , or @marnie , or @Pabbers . They tell you WHO, or WHEN, and sometimes even HOW AND WHY a transfer will happen, and then it happens.

We are blind, and because of these moles, we can see the truth - the Transfer Truth.

These moles will be listed weekly too.

The Kristian Walsh Award for Transfer Writings

A new award has been prepared for this summer window.

Direct lifting of a rumour from elsewhere, with the crime evidenced, will invoke a Kristian Walsh award.

Happy Hunting mein frandelinos.

An excellent introduction to this Summers Weasel Index as always Orly Frandel.

The signs are already promising for a very productive season of Weasel breeding.

A new manager / DOF, who will want to implement their own style of play, which will mean some ins and lots of outs and as such will provide perfect Weasel breeding conditions.

Have you thought about maybe introducing preventive measures, just in case the Weasel population reaches unsustainable levels ?

..apparently Joel Robles close to signing for Getafe. His contract with Everton expires at the end of June. 1 down, 11 to go perhaps.
A shame he’s leaving as he’s a decent keeper and we won’t get a better ‘back up’. I would have preferred Stek to go but, as has been discussed, it’s a cull on numbers. Good luck to Joel, he deserves to play somewhere.

You say you’d shop exclusively from overseas and then comment how Liverpool got good value from signing Mane, who they bought from Southampton.
You’d also build the team around 7 players, 6 of which we bought from UK teams.
I mean non-English players more tbh.

I hope folks take this cause seriously because we cannot allow our Room of Blues at Grand Old Team Forum to be overrun by Weasels.

Weasel business, it matters.

Marcus Edwards is available from Spurs. Left-footed winger by the looks of it

Don't think I've ever seen him play but has been a constant performer for England youths up until u 20's
