...here’s a round-up of Everton Transfer gossip for this Thursday morning;

- The Liverpool Echo report Joel Robles will leave Everton this summer and is expected to return to Spain with La Liga side Getafe. The 27 year old goalkeepers contract is up at the end of June.

- Following yesterday’s announcement of needing to sell players, there is lots of speculation about which players might be on their way out of Goodison. 4th Official mention Rangers and Middlesborough as possible destinations for Mo Besic, whilst TheTransferTavern suggests Newcastle would be ideal for Morgan Schneiderlin. The Daily Mirror reckon Rangers could also be where Swiss international striker Shani Tarashaj goes.

- Eindhoven’s Dagblad say PSV are in talks to sign Manchester City left back, Angeliño. A rumour yesterday said Everton wanted to take the 21 year old to Goodison but this has been firmly denied by the players management.

- Marco Silva is quoted as denying any interest in Portuguese players Everton have been linked with: ‘The reality is I have not spoken to the Owner or Marcel about any Portuguese players right now. I’m not saying I will not talk but at the moment I did not mention any players who are in the Portuguese League’.

- Despite this, Portuguese outlet A Bola, report Marco Silva has approved the signing of Sporting Lisbon winger, Gelson Martins. They suggest Marcel Brands wants Martins and William Carvalho and Silva is willing to bring both Portuguese internationals in.

- According to The Times, Liverpool have entered the race to sign Stoke winger, Xherdan Shaqiri. Everton and Southampton are also interested in the Swiss international.

- SportsLens website repeat earlier reports suggesting Leicester are now in pole position to sign Everton target, James Maddison from Norwich. Apparently the 21 year old prefers a switch to the King Power Stadium as it is close to his hometown of Coventry.

Well, Silva has denied speaking about any 'Portuguese' players....but not denied talking about any players until after a clearout. I wonder who were in for...?

How many players do you want in eggs + which positions?

Perfect Situation; 7 In:

LB
CB
CB
DM
CM
LW
ST

All starting quality.

However, I’d accept:

CB
CM
LW
ST

- if Robinson is good enough at LB cover and if Schneiderlin pulls his finger out at DM.

..i’m not sure, Zat. I certainly prefer quality over quantity and I like the fact that we appear to have something that looks like a transfer strategy.

It’s the type of player I think we need and by that I mean real athleticism (size, running power, pace, mobility) through the spine of the team at CB, CM and CF. The type of player we bring in will provide an indication of how the team will set up and play, but we need players who can compete and provide a threat.

It’ll probably take 3 windows to lick the squad into some type of shape.

That’s how Mourinho operates at every team he goes to. Always seems to focus on a strong spine.

For me I’m not too concerned about our strikers, particularly of we’re going to go 4-3-3.

I think we desperately need
LB
CB
DM
LW

The right players there would transform us. Next summer look at another CB, CM and CF.

So you'd prefer big athletic players as opposed to shorter players who are perhaps more skillful?

I see the need for size in the team and power but there aren't many players around with the passing ability or technical skills combined.

Personally I would like to see us go for someone like that at CB and then another at either DM or CM...I think we need 2 new central midfielders.

They need to be able to play though as well...

Diop (Toulouse 25-30mil) and Upamecano(Leipzig 50mil+) would be the 2 CBs id be looking at but the further up the pitch the harder it is to find those types with the ball playing ability.

I think the only CB who is any good on the ball + who can play a high line is Holgate. So another CB is imperative.
DM -- Other than Schneiderlin (coward) and Gana(hasn't got the ball playing ability) we have no options aside from Baningime (too young)
CM -- Literally I cant think of any player who can excel over a season.

Personally I hope that's the focus and like @Eggs stated , important to be the right physical size and strength. I'd say for 2 of the positions.

I suspect we will see 7 or 8 departures and the arrival of 4 players who will make the first team

Will be way more than that out I think. We have 38 in the squad. 8 out and 4 in keeps us at 34.

We need to drop down to 23/24 and then add in 6 players max.

My guess is that we will end up with a squad size of 26/27.

..it’s a balance, it’s not particularly one type over another but we certainly lack athleticism. Players who can quickly get us up the pitch, players who have powers of recovery in defence. In those EL games we would lose possession on the edge of the opposition box and within a heartbeat they would be attacking our goal and our players were totally out of the game. Once a player is beyond our back four you rarely see any defender catching them up.

Athleticism without quality is useless. We need players who provide both.

Don't think we 'need' a CF mate this summer, yeah would ideally be good, but with the amount of positions we need, and it being impossible to fix in one go, I'd say it's down the pecking order for now.

Silva plays one out and out CF so can't see a backup/competition for Tosun being top priority right now.

Especially do if we sign a left sides forward/winger like Lozano who provides a goal threat, as that would give him and Walcott who could and should both chip in with double figures, ditto for Sigurdsson in a settled central role, and Lookman used regularly should reach around those numbers also, his spell in Germany suggests he's more than capable of that, would give us five players who can all possibly/should hit double figures, which for now is more than enough.

Priority would be for me after signing who I said, making sure we can a. Have someone capable of getting the ball to those players and quickly - Carvalho seems well suited to that role, and b. Ensuring that if we can hit those types of numbers we have the ability to prevent leaking more at the back, so a new cb, new left back as a must.

We only signed 4 quality players in those positions, trimmed a huge amount of the dead wood, and kept competition in the form of younger and the hungrier players we have, then think we could have a very good season, one which would also show signs of better to come as the squad is revamped over the following ones.

Adding a threat like Lozano other dude to Walcott will cause teams nighmares, having a Lookman up to bring on ok n top of that doubles the problems opponent's will have.

Carvalho would provide a platform and some physicality centrally, one whose capable of starting off the counter attack and getting the ball quick to the front 4.

A left back who can cover that side with energy, pace and skill like I've mentioned Ismaily fits that role perfect would provide us with huge options and allow the attackers to attack rather than constantly tracking back, also gives us huge balance with Coleman the other side.

Throw in a Lascelles who has pace, height and ability in the ball, and the entire team pushes ten yards further up, and instantly we go from worrying about the opponent's to them worrying about our options.

All very doable and probably whilst making a profit.

Keep around Dowell, Lookman, Kenny, Davies, Vlasic, Klassen, Baines, Keane, as the backups/squad players

Top it off for a perfect scenario by getting a loan in for a striker with option to buy, like a Silva etc or even Hernandez as cover.

Exactly mate. People expecting a Hummels or Ramos to turn up in his place. Some proper deluded morons in here sometimes. Was poisonous during last season but gets worse in pre season. Jags for me is top class. Doubt my standards differ that much from many in here.
Interesting indeed seeing as a manager can't sign a player without the boards say so as they simply won't release the funds.

Brands is effectively Silvas boss now and while I imagine Silva will have no small amount of input on the players being brought in brands will be the one having last say. If brands doesn't like them they won't be coming. If Silva has a problem with that I doubt he would of signed for us.
Thats the way I see it working.
Silva has the added protection of an experienced eye to oversee transfers and reduces the chances of Silva signing a dud.
If transfers work out he gets half the praise if they don’t Brands takes the fall

I hear there is a certain U Bolt who is looking for a club?!!
