He came here as a young kid and seemingly walked into an apparently deeply unhappy and fractious Finch Farm. Add to that the managerial upheaval and his failure to get game time despite playing well, then he went to Leipzig and gained significant game time and was appreciated much more. Can't blame him if he fancies a fresh start elsewhere.

An arm round him from Silva telling him he’ll get regular game time and be an important player for us will win him round. I imagine the whole place will be a lot more positive with the changes being made.

Was a lot of talk that he wasnt totally happy here, I mean constantly being overlooked would have been a factor, but there could be other factors as well of course.

We've already said he's going nowhere.

He'll want to prove himself here I think - though there was talk he was homesick (although he wouldn't have moved to Germany if so, surely?). It was Sam he hated, not the club.

He is. But I think he would be a better fit for a better team where he maybe an impact sub.

To be fair I’d probably rather pay £12m for Shaqiri than I would for a young lad from Hull who’s had one good season, or £20m+ for Maddison who again has had 1 good season in the championship, or £25m+ for Grealish who has no end product.

I know there will be better out there but £12m for a player of his talent is a bargain really.

He's class on his day but he's not a great team player (latest example would be his failure to track back for the Coutinho goal Vs Brazil). If Silva supposedly wants us to press from the front, would he fit in?

Can’t say it’s true because it’s second hand info but I was told by somebody who ‘could’ be ITK that he hasn’t. He was burgled apparently, and it gave him the willies about living here.

The only thing I would say about that is that Leipzig would be a very odd choice if you’re concerned about your personal safety. A young black man in east Germany is unlikely to get an easy time judging from my experiences there.

Nah probably not if I’m being honest.

I just like players who can do something out of nothing. We don’t have any of them.

A big part of Silva being hired was supposedly to develop young players. As much as I agree the prices for young championship prospects are steep, if Silva wants one to develop we should really be backing him to do so.
