Is everyone on flaming holiday? We can a have an election campaign, an actual election, a weird arse government being cobbled together, terrorist attacks, Lions Tour, a cricket World Cup (ish), yet we cant sign a footballer?

There remains conjecture regarding if the window is even open yet. There is a veritable melange of dates that are being bandied about but nothing definitive.
The girl in Roxette was OK looking. That Alya girl in Corrie St is very pretty

I'll be honest I really wanted Keane but I do think for £25 million we could put the extra money to that and get in a top notch CB. Keane and Williams would be a decent partnership but we are crying out for a top notch CB like Van Dijk/ De Vrij.

Jags and Lescott in their prime were a boss partnership.

We are not going to get Van Dijk let's be realistic.

Keane reminds me a bit of a young Jagielka, but much better on the ball. Remember we signed Jags from Sheffield United after one season in the Prem, in which they were relegated.

Who's the better footballer? At the moment none of our CB's have any skill on the ball. HMS Williams is a walking nightmare with the ball at his feet

Keane reminds me a bit of a young Jagielka, but much better on the ball. Remember we signed Jags from Sheffield United after one season in the Prem, in which they were relegated.

I agree Keane looks to be a good no nonsense defender, but just think he would be our only CB coming through the door for that price when if we are to really push for the top 6 we could do with him coming in alongside another top drawer CB already at the club in which we don't really have.

Jags will get another year when really he should be done away with.

There isn't any conjecture mate, the Premier League window is open. It opens on the 1st July for other European leagues.

I'm pretty sure I read something about him being pursued by the Barcodes. God knows why he'd want to go there. Maybe he has family or something in the NE. I cannot recall of the article went into much depth. I'll see if I can track it down and if so I'll link it in to this thread so everyone can bone up on Gibson ( that sounds rude!!).
Hopefully it won't take too long a search but if I find I'm getting nowhere, I'll flag it...so apologies in advance if that happens.

We can sign players from abroad but they won't officially join until 1st July. Like when we signed Deulofeu a couple of years back, we wrapped the deal up and announced it in mid-June I think but he only officially joined 1st July. If we signed Keane next week though, he'd join next week, photo shoot at Finch Farm and all.

I love your optimism Chris. There has been so much despondency around the joint recently that it's uplifting to read your postings.
Do you genuinely feel we might win the league next season? I don't think I share such Panglossian outlook as that but nor am I the Jeremiah like some on here.
I guess I am somewhere in the middle...a little bit excited and a little bit nervous. I guess a little bit like I felt on my first time ( with a girl called Fiona...we'd just been at the beach and one thing led to another)

Gibson, Keane is a bit of a grock.

I like a Grock mind.

But Gibson is a class above.
