I think the point he is making (albeit being kind of a butt about it) is that we need depth. Can Baines be upgraded? Sure. It doesn't mean we should throw out whatever depth we have in the squad. Baines is still very capable of filling the role if called upon. I'm glad we are making signings but it isn't wise to gut your entire squad for no reason. Especially the ones that have been here for a while and built chemistry with the squad.

Hence our interest in kolasinic who went to Arsenal. He would have been perfect for us.

That is a strange link even by the Daily Mail's lowly standards. He absolutely is not the required quality we need and he has a poor mentality as well, he looked scared of his own shadow whenever I've seen him in an arsenal shirt.

I have no doubts that Koeman and co. are looking for a Baines replacement as we speak, but it's better to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along than to force a transfer for a crap LB. Besic is another one I'd like to keep around as he is young and has a bit of pace and talent- still young too. If we could sell McCarthy for 20 mil, I probably would. Having said that, he is a useful player when fit and I would rather keep him around if we can't recoup the money from him.
 

Evertonians have a massive blind spot for Besic. The guy is injury prone and has done absolutely nothing for years and for some unknown reason if someone questions getting rid of him there's uproar.

He's total deadwood and if we have any ambition whatsoever we need more reliable and better midfield options.

There is the same (albeit not as bad) blindspot for Kevin M who is one of the most inconsistent players to pull on each jersey.

I think it might be more nostalgia about keeping Baines. Still as good aeft back in Premier League as there is. Never been blessed with Kyle Walker pace he's not declined to the extent he's a liability and will always offer an option from dead balls. I just miss seeing him and Piebaar on the left. Still wouldn't even consider binning him. Not sure I was being a bit just a bit baffled is all !!
