But other than Jagielka and Stekelenberg for some brief moments none of these players played last season. So you are improving on nothing.

I am fairly happy with our transfer dealings though personally, obviously we know what else we need but I am certainly not all doom and gloom like some.

But you are, if they didn't play, then replacing them in the squad with someone who will play is improving.

So having more players who can play a big part in the first team making the squad up rather than cleverley, niasse kone and the rest is going to be a big advantage 20 games down the line.

for example, we need to change a game, we can bring niasse and kone on, or sandro and rooney. Take away the concern over the latter, which is going to be the better subs?

Agreed Pulis said after the West Brom game at goodison something along the lines of the only difference between them & us is lukaku & Barkley.

We have signed some good players but need a couple who can be the difference
