Summer Transfer Window 2017

For the record despite my moaning arse, if we didn't sign anyone and our business was what we had done then I'd still be happy with it all ;)

I cant say the same. We had 2 summers ti sirt out the team. We failed badly last summer. We did alright this summer but needed a top quality forward with the knowledge that lukaku was always gonna be off (we knew this 2 years ago) the failure to find a top forward will mean we will finish mid table to 7th place. No higher. And thats what its all about. Next may. Our position. Can we win a cup without a top forward. Also difficult esp with thursday night footie. Tomorrow is a big day. We need a 20 goal a season front man.

It just would have been nice to have one summer where we go out and sign a boss player and have some excitement for the season. We have a new owner and we were all under the impression that we suddenly had money to invest. The general feeling was last year we got it wrong and would change that this year.

And yes , the business we done at the start of the summer was fantastic. We got that buzz and next thing 2 months pass, haggle over a couple of million for weeks on a player and even then if the previous signings were paid for by lukaku, siggurdson at 45 will be greatly reduced once Ross goes. And it leads us to now, no news, no mention of a signing despite claiming we are after 2 players at a time when everyone knows everything going on. I'm not referring to Ronaldo or Messi turning up at finch farm but just one player who makes us get a little bit excited to see in 2 weeks. All the players we have signed are great but long term signings, none really are exciting to see right now.

At least them lot can dream of seeing keita and dream of possibly signing Lamar or someone of that ilk even if it doesn't come off. We have jarg links to a player not good enough for benfica or a championship striker no-one had heard of really until a week ago.

That's why this is frustrating personally, a small part of me hopes we get a player who we can look forward to seeing in a couple of weeks, but deep down I know we will be disappointed or underwhelmed and come Friday morning it's back to that old Everton mentality , we support who we have and hope next year is different. Just once it would be nice to break that mould and do something that isn't boring and Everton like.
We've signed 9 first team players. If none of them are exciting to you then I'm not sure anyone we sign would.

We do mate I fully agree. But I'm not getting my hopes up after last year, if we pull a batshuayi or dost or someone who looks half decent out of the bag then be nice going to bed tomorrow night.

I would agree to an extent if I thought we were selling players to buy, but we are selling players who have either decided they don't want to be here and/or are not deemed good enough. So for instance, if Lukaku and Barkley decided to commit their future to Everton, did not want to leave, but were sold so we could buy cheaper players and make a profit. The "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" method of negative net spending, like we've done in the past, with Jeffers, Rooney, even Lineker. But we all know that this is not the case here.

Well, that's why Moshiri isn't definitely a fraud yet, because there's, erm, 'extenuating circumstances' that you mention about high-priced wantaway players.

So it may not be the same thing, but whilst I could excuse John Stones as that was a bit unexpected, we've had well enough time to know Lukaku and Barkley are off and bring in the replacements and spend properly accounting that money. FFP isn't the excuse - hell, selling players high allows you to spend more in principle.

I don't know if Mosh is a fraud, but there's grounds to suspect it, and he's been here long enough now to be able to dispel that if wanted to.

I don't know, maybe not expressing what I mean - perhaps I could do it in song...
