If he played long balls more often than he played short ones then yeah that's exactly what i'd be saying. That's what I was saying, that to make more fouls than you do tackles is not a desirable trait in all honesty.

You don't need to justify or defend it to me, like I said I agree with the basic premise of what you're saying. He needs to improve on that side of the game though, because he did just lazily give a lot of fouls away last year when really you'd have expected him to do better. Agree that he needs to offer a little bit more offensively too. He's a very good player with an awful lot to like about him, but there's work to be done to make him the type of player that really takes you places.

I think it's more to do with the difference between constantly doing something and consistently doing something that I'm trying to get across. It's obvious that gomes consistently fouls every time he tries to tackle from the stats.

Where as he doesn't constantly tackle during a match therefore he cannot constantly foul. If that makes sense. That's my point just not sure if I'm getting that across.

Who really gives a toss though, honestly?
That hes terrible defensively and fouls a ton for a team that struggles on set pieces? Anyone that wants Everton to do well should.

That alone doesn't make him a bad player,. But he doesn't help us much in the final 3rd either.

If you pushed him up higher, he might create more. If you sat Sigurdsson he'd help us in possession and give us a different look. He's not a terrible player. But I don't think he's a good fit with Gana and Siggy.

...at the risk of being like a broken record, I can’t see the point in sending him on another loan. We need to sell or risk letting his contract run down.
He’s still only 21 and I’m sure there’s plenty of clubs better than CSKA Moscow who would take him on load.

Having him go out on loan for another season should make him a better player and if we pick the right loan his value will go up, I’d have no issues at all sending a young talented kid out on a second loan.

Whereas blokes like Mirallas, Bolasie, Martina, Tarashaj, Garbutt, Niasse, Besic and Pennington all have no/very limited room for improvement and won’t raise in value from here so all should be sold and not loaned out again.

Kenny and Holgate probably sit in the middle and depend on which clubs are interested. If we can get Holgate a loan move similar to Kenny’s or at a Premier League club id be willing to loan him out as long as it didn’t send squad short.

Other than that and the academy players Onyekuru and Vlasic are the two who could make it with us but must continuing developing.

Try per game. Try even per 90 it's worse. 3rd per game in fouls, 5th in dribbles past.

That's what I have done both of them per game across the top 5 leauges like you told me too.

What you're quoting now is just the premier league. So he's not even top of this leauge and a minute ago you were saying he was the worst in all the top leauges.

At this rate he won't of committed a foul ever by dinner time going off your stats.

Doesnt that make it MORE disturbing tho? Some of it is tactical. But he did the same in La Liga.

I actually don't care about the tackling, but I do care about his positioning and inability to pick off a pass now and then. If he's going to play with Gana in a 4-2-3-1, he has to do better to let Gana run around and take the ball away. He MAY still improve under Silva. Just want a better/ different option.

Keane and Mina won’t work as a long term partnership as there’s no pace there. It’s fine against good sides when we sit deep but we can’t push up the pitch with those 2 at the back.

You can have seen baningime play a maximum of about 3 times, it’s bizarre that you’re including him as good enough. Besic and dowell didn’t pull up any trees in the championship last year so forgive me if I don’t elevate them above a £30m player from Barcelona.

We need to bring in quality everywhere. This make do and mend attitude needs to change, we shouldn’t be holding onto players just because they can do a job in the right circumstances, we need to sign players who are good enough to take us forward. Luckily I think the people in charge know what they’re doing and won’t be asking any of the American know nothings on here for advice.
Settle down Sally. Don’t get your princess tiara caught up in your bunched panties we wouldn’t want a mess now.

The point of the post was to point out what we have and what we need and weigh them together to form a priority list. I never once said just get a ST and we will be fine just by patching the cracks with paper mache. I’m not a blind brain dead mule I’ve seen the team play all season, fully recognize that 1 signing will never keep us at 8th place for next season and that we need something like 3-4 with about 8 outs and maybe a loan one an extra signing after the outs.

When I was bringing up our options in the middle of the field I was more pointing out that there were more and better options there and at CB than at ST.

I included Beni because Silva had him in the senior squad (albeit no a appearances) as an option. Besic wasn’t used effectively by Pulis this season for whatever reason and Dowell went for half a season and is still highly rated.

I was never once comparing them to Gomes the point that you so obviously missed was that the CM options we have are better than our ST options.

Luckily the people in charge can read then understand and have the capacity to analyze a message unlike yourself. I may be American but I can also grasp the point of a message.
